Brains added “Cardinal” to the cans of Brains Black, its nitro stout, to mark the band’s third album, “Second Sign of Life,” News From Wales reported.
Brains describes Brains Black as a “smooth, full-bodied Welsh nitro stout.” The tie-in also includes a film about Brains’ 144-year history and the link between pubs and live music.
Why Brains and Cardinal Black teamed up
The band played its way around South Wales pubs, including Brains venues, and that is the connection the film tells. Brains was founded in 1882.
The new album
“Second Sign of Life” is the band’s third album. UK retailer Assai Records lists the CD for Jan. 29, 2027.
The announcement includes comments from Brains managing director Nick Payne and the band’s frontman Tom Hollister. It does not give an ABV, a release date for the cans or where they will be sold.
Spin it, then pour it
Until Brains confirms where and when the cans will be sold, we can’t say whether any will reach the USA. For more on why nitro stouts pour the way they do, read our nitro stout explainer. For something heavier, try our November barrel-aged stout roundup.
