The Salt Lake City brewer is closing its Main Street location. Proper Burger at 865 S. Main St. serves its last burgers this Saturday, Nov. 7, and the taproom next door stays open through November before it closes too, according to a Salt Lake Tribune report that cites the company’s Instagram post.
The taproom will serve the Proper Burger menu after the burger shop closes, and keep serving it until the taproom’s own last day. That report, also carried by Chili Chili, doesn’t give a reason for the closure.
What’s staying open after Proper Brewing leaves Main Street
This is not a company shutdown. After the Main Street closure, Proper food and beer will still be available at Avenues Proper, Sugar House Station and Proper Brewing Moab, and Proper beer will still be distributed statewide. Check Proper’s website for hours.
The goodbye note
“To everyone who’s shared a pint, grabbed a burger or made Proper on Main part of their routine, thank you for being part of what made this place special,” the post said.
The SLC Punk! connection
Proper’s SLC Pils is inspired by the 1998 film “SLC Punk!” Severine Ferrari, wife of director James Merendino, told the paper they screened the film at Proper in summer 2025 to a “full house” and began filming a documentary, “Only Posers Die: Why SLC Punk Lives On.”
Last call on Main Street
Burger fans have until Saturday. Taproom regulars have the rest of November, though the exact final date hasn’t been announced. It’s another stop on this fall’s closure map; see our reports on Mile Wide Beer Co. and Nine Maidens, Timnath and Brick Box.
