Half Acre Benthic Ten, a tenth-anniversary collection of the Chicago brewery’s barrel-aged imperial stout, goes on presale Nov. 11. Half Acre Beer Company announced the name and date on X with a simple card: “BENTHIC TEN / Tenth Anniversary Collection / 11.11.26.” According to a release write-up from JollyPint, the set is an eight-pack of 12-ounce cans covering four Benthic variants, from 14.3% to 18.2% ABV.
Benthic is Half Acre’s bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with toasted coconut and coffee. The brewery says the beer “is back for its tenth year,” per JollyPint. The original returns the same day as Benthic 2026. Our sensors read this as a deep-sea expedition with a very short boarding window.
Half Acre Benthic Ten: the four variants
JollyPint lists four beers in the eight-pack. Each one builds on the same toasted coconut and coffee base, with changes to the barrels and the doses. Here’s the lineup as reported. We haven’t seen these details on Half Acre’s own channels yet.
| Variant | ABV | Barrels | Additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Benthic Cherry Brandy Vanilla | 14.3% | Bourbon and cherry brandy (double barrel) | 2x toasted coconut, vanilla |
| Benthic 2 x 4 | 14.5% | Bourbon | 2x coffee, 4x toasted coconut |
| Benthic X | 16.8% | Double bourbon barrel | Toasted coconut, coffee |
| Benthic Triple Barrel | 18.2% | Bourbon and rye (triple barrel) | Toasted coconut, coffee |

Half Acre Benthic Ten: Cherry Brandy Vanilla and 2 x 4
The two lighter beers in the set, if 14% can be called light, play with ingredients. Cherry Brandy Vanilla is described as a double barrel imperial stout aged in bourbon and cherry brandy barrels, with two times the toasted coconut plus vanilla. Benthic 2 x 4 is a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with two times the coffee and four times the toasted coconut. The name is the recipe.
Benthic X and Benthic Triple Barrel
The other two go deeper on the wood. Benthic X is a double bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with toasted coconut and coffee, at 16.8%. Benthic Triple Barrel tops the set at 18.2%. It’s a triple barrel imperial stout aged in bourbon and rye barrels, again with toasted coconut and coffee.
Half Acre hasn’t published tasting notes for any of the four, as far as we can find. So we’ll stick to the ingredient list and leave the flavor descriptions until there’s something official to quote.
Benthic 2026 returns the same day
The flagship isn’t sitting this one out. Benthic 2026 is a 14.4% bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with toasted coconut and coffee, and it goes on sale in Half Acre’s shop on Nov. 11, according to JollyPint. That’s the same day the Benthic Ten presale opens.
For context, Benthic has run slightly lower in recent years. Half Acre’s Untappd listings show Benthic 2024 at 14.3% and Benthic 2025 at 13.9%. Half Acre’s own Benthic page describes the series this way: “Benthic is a gathering of beers that bend past the traditional to an outer realm. They are fantastic sensory realities delivered through an extreme use of raw material, a commitment to time and the hard work of many.”
