Gunner’s Daughter Day is today, Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, and the doors open at noon at Mast Landing Brewing, 920 Main St., Westbrook, Maine. The brewery is pouring 12 versions of its flagship milk stout, Gunner’s Daughter. The one with the loudest signal is Double Barrel Gunner’s Daughter, a 16.2% imperial milk stout that spent nine months in bourbon barrels and then 11 more in rye barrels before it went into bottles.
A note on sourcing before the Bureau goes further. Almost everything here comes from a single report, a JollyPint release write-up built from the brewery’s own posts. Mast Landing’s event listing confirms the date and the noon start, and says only “More details to come!” So we are working with one good antenna, not a full array. Where it goes quiet, so do we.
The Gunner’s Daughter Day headliner: Double Barrel Gunner’s Daughter
Here is what is confirmed about the bottle:
- Style: imperial milk stout, aged in two kinds of barrels
- ABV: 16.2%
- Barrel time: nine months in bourbon barrels, then 11 months in rye barrels
- Format: bottles, per the brewery’s lineup as reported by JollyPint
- Release: today, Gunner’s Daughter Day, Oct. 17, 2026
Add those months up and you get 20 months in oak, which is longer than some Earth relationships and most of our probe batteries. What we do not have: a bottle price, a per-person limit, a bottle count, or any word on whether bottles will outlast Gunner’s Daughter Day itself. If those matter to your flight plan, check Mast Landing’s channels before you launch.
As for the other 11 versions on the Gunner’s Daughter Day board, the Bureau is not going to guess. Only the double barrel beer has been confirmed by name and spec in the reporting we can verify, so it is the only one we will describe. The rest stay classified until the Gunner’s Daughter Day tap list speaks for itself.
How 20 months in two barrels compares
Stacked barrel-aging is having a strong season. Here is how the Gunner’s Daughter Day bottle sits next to two other long-aged stouts the Bureau logged this month, using only the facts each brewery has published:
| Beer | Barrels | Time in wood | ABV | Release |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Double Barrel Gunner’s Daughter (Mast Landing) | Bourbon, then rye | 9 + 11 months | 16.2% | Bottles, Oct. 17, Westbrook, Maine |
| Bourbon County Triple Barrel Stout (Goose Island) | Three successive bourbon barrels | Three years | 18.7% | Chicago only, Nov. 27 |
| Once Around the Sun 2026 (Thompson Island) | Peated Scotch whisky barrel | Six months | Not listed | Bottles, Oct. 15, Rehoboth Beach, Del. |
Our files also hold an older relative from Denver: River North’s triple-barrel anniversary stout, which went through two kinds of bourbon barrels and finished in Colorado whiskey barrels. Earthlings clearly enjoy moving stout from one barrel to the next.
Why a milk stout gets its own holiday
According to JollyPint’s summary of the brewery’s history, Gunner’s Daughter was on the first tap list when Mast Landing opened its tasting room in 2016. It soon became a regular order, and the brewery says it made more than 75,000 gallons of it in 2022. Over the years the same base has turned into nitro, coffee, vanilla, coconut, imperial and barrel-aged versions. Few flagships end up with a whole day built around them, but Gunner’s Daughter Day is exactly that.
The name, in the brewery’s words, “nods to the long-passed legends of our region’s seafarers.” In old naval slang, the gunner’s daughter was a ship’s cannon. A 16.2% stout named for artillery is about as heavy metal as beer gets, even when it comes with lactose.
Gunner’s Daughter Day field notes from Westbrook
The same JollyPint report lists the rest of the day’s plan:
- Doors: noon, 920 Main St., Westbrook
- Music: The Swamp Road Riders, 1 to 4 p.m.
- Food: the Mannies Philly 2 ME food truck
- Parking: the brewery asks guests to use the free garage behind the building, not the neighboring lots
Please follow the parking request. Nothing ruins interspecies goodwill faster than a towed car. Maine brewers keep turning up on our scanners this fall. Bissell Brothers, for one, was among the collaborators at the Dancing Gnome 10th anniversary in Pennsylvania last weekend.
If you are in range of Westbrook today, Gunner’s Daughter Day is a rare chance to see one flagship stretched 12 ways in one taproom. Pace yourself around the 16.2% bottle; a beer that spent 20 months in oak is not built to be rushed. The Bureau will update this report if Mast Landing posts the full lineup.
