Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA and a Renamed Gold-Medal Helles Show Up on Labels

Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA and a Renamed Gold-Medal Helles Show Up on Labels

Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA is the newest can to cross this correspondent’s scanners. Label previews published Oct. 18, 2026, by MyBeerBuzz show the Bend, Oregon, brewery preparing a 6.5% ABV hazy IPA in 12-ounce cans, plus a 4.5% Helles-Style Lager that used to answer to the name Prinz Crispy.

Important calibration before anyone sprints to a bottle shop: the only source here is label art. No release date, distribution footprint or price has been confirmed, and MyBeerBuzz says so too. Neither beer has a product page on deschutesbrewery.com as of this transmission. What follows is what the labels say, nothing more.

What the Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA label says

Per the label copy, Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA is “revved up with vibrant mango, sweet pineapple, and ripe strawberry over a pillowy soft malt backbone.” The can also promises “fresh stripes, sun-drenched vibes, and big-flavor hops” and calls the beer “pure post-mow perfection,” signing off with: “Mow hard, kick back, and make today even funner!”

Those fruit notes are the brewery’s marketing, not a tasting report. The Bureau has not sampled this beer, and the label does not list hop varieties.

The hard numbers printed on the can:

  • 6.5% ALC/VOL
  • 12 FL OZ (355 mL)

The artwork, as MyBeerBuzz describes it, features a wild green hop character behind the wheel of a bright red hot rod, with oversized eyes, a goofy grin and its tongue hanging out, set against an orange background with bold HAZY IPA lettering. From orbit, it reads as a lawnmower-season joke that wandered onto a can.

The Helles-Style Lager formerly known as Prinz Crispy

The second label is the quieter one. Helles-Style Lager is 4.5% ABV in a 12-ounce (355 mL) can, and its copy reads: “Clean, crisp, and crushable. This award-winning helles-style lager stands out among the finest in America.” Under a gold-medal graphic, the can says “2023 GOLD GREAT AMERICAN BEER FESTIVAL” and “MUNICH-STYLE HELLES ENTERED AS PRINZ CRISPY.”

That medal checks out. The official 2023 GABF winners list shows gold in Category 47, Munich-Style Helles (172 entries), going to Prinz Crispy from Deschutes Brewery & Public House – Bend. Deschutes’ own 2023 medal announcement said Prinz Crispy was “available exclusively on tap at Deschutes Brewery locations, while supplies last.” So a pub-only medal winner appears to be heading for a can under a plainer name. The labels do not say when, or where it will be sold.

Two cans, two directions

Here is how the two label previews line up:

  • Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA: 6.5% ABV, 12 oz can, label lists mango, pineapple and strawberry, orange hot-rod artwork.
  • Helles-Style Lager: 4.5% ABV, 12 oz can, “clean, crisp, and crushable” label copy, cream background with red Lager lettering per MyBeerBuzz, 2023 GABF gold printed on the can.

Deschutes has spent time in hazy territory before. This Bureau logged its Neon Daydream Hazy Ale back in 2020 and its Fresh Squeezed Non Alcoholic in 2024. If you are wondering how hazy IPAs can taste soft rather than sharp, our Hop Forensics file on why hazy IPA is not bitter covers the chemistry. Helles fans can compare notes with Prost Brewing’s Munich-style golden lager.

What is still unconfirmed about Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA

For the record, nothing below has been announced by Deschutes in any source the Bureau could find:

  • Release date for Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA or the Helles-Style Lager
  • Which states or markets will get either beer
  • Price, pack sizes (six-pack, 12-pack, etc.) or draft availability
  • Whether the Helles is the same recipe that won in 2023 (the can says “entered as Prinz Crispy” and nothing about the recipe)

Label approvals and previews often run ahead of launch, and some never reach shelves in the form shown. Until Deschutes posts details, treat Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA as a strong signal, not a confirmed release.

Final reading from orbit: one can goes loud with fruit and a grinning hop in a hot rod, the other swaps a pun name for a gold medal. Deschutes Even Funner Hazy IPA gets the spotlight, but the lager’s medal is the only claim the Bureau could independently verify.
