San Diego non-alcoholic beer has grown from a novelty into a real local scene. The county is home to a major Athletic Brewing production site, NA beers from established breweries like AleSmith Brewing and Pure Project, homegrown brand RationAle, and bottle shops that sell nothing but alcohol-free drinks. Athletic Brewing in Miramar
The country’s largest non-alcoholic beer producer runs the larger of its two production headquarters in San Diego, in a pair of Miramar facilities that Ballast Point Brewing used to operate, San Diego Beer News reported in July 2026. SDBN says Athletic brewed 480,000 barrels in 2025, making it the sixth-largest craft brewing company in the U.S.
AleSmith Brewing
AleSmith began experimenting with NA beer in 2020 and released its Non-Alcoholic IPA in 2022, per SDBN. Its website describes tangerine and pine with bready notes, at less than 0.5% ABV and 75 calories. Non-Alcoholic Speedway, a dark coffee brew based on its Speedway Stout, followed. Both come in year-round 12-ounce six-packs, sold at the Miramar tasting room at 9990 AleSmith Court, at retail and through AleSmith’s online shop.
Pure Project
Vista-based Pure Project released its first two NA beers in April 2026, SDBN reported: Grounded, an IPA, and Sunsip, a blonde ale. Both are under 0.5% ABV in 16-ounce cans. The Grounded page lists Citra, Citra Cryo and Mosaic Abstrax hops. SDBN says both are available year-round at all of Pure Project’s taprooms and at retailers that carry its beer.
RationAle Brewing
RationAle is San Diego non-alcoholic beer through and through: an Encinitas-born brand that only makes NA beer. Its online shop lists a Hazy IPA, West Coast IPA, Kölsch Style, Mexican Style Brew and Japanese Style Dry. The company is sold in 15 states, and on Oct. 29 it announced a seed round and a growth alliance; see our report on RationAle Brewing’s first priced seed round.
Where to buy San Diego non-alcoholic beer
Pure Project and AleSmith both say their NA beers are sold through retail and distribution, not just their taprooms. For the deepest selection in one place, go to Monday Morning, which calls itself San Diego’s first non-alcoholic bottle shop. Its website lists shops at 1854 Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach and 4967 Newport Ave. in Ocean Beach, both closed Mondays, with more than 500 zero-proof drinks and tasting bars.
Founder Zane Curtis also took over the former Creative Creature Brewing space in San Marcos for The Lab, an NA-only brewery, taproom and contract-brewing operation. Life of Beer reported it opening July 18, 2026, at 1784 La Costa Meadows Drive, with Haymaker, an NA West Coast IPA, as its first house beer.
And the newest arrival: Los Angeles brand Easy Does It is now distributed in San Diego by Karl Strauss Distributing, as we reported in our story on Easy Does It non-alcoholic beer. Karl Strauss itself made an NA Red Trolley for Dry January 2025 but decided not to pursue NA, SDBN reported.
