Can’d Aid sending water to Colorado’s Boulder County wildfire neighborhoods

Can’d Aid announced the following relief efforts for Colorado’s Boulder County wildfire neighborhoods:

“Like many of you, the Can’d Aid team is still reeling from the devastation resulting from the historic wildfires that tore through Colorado’s Boulder County neighborhoods – forcing tens of thousands to evacuate their homes, burning up to 1,000 homes and multiple businesses to the ground, and displacing countless other families. Though Can’d Aid responds to in need nationwide, this disaster hits especially close to home—as it occurred right in our backyard, and many of our volunteers, partners, supporters and beneficiaries have been affected.

There is an overwhelming need for clean drinking water in the affected areas – for both displaced residents and in response to a water boil advisory in Louisville, CO. In response to a urgent request from Boulder Office of Emergency Management, and in partnership with Sleeping Giant Brewing Company, Can’d Aid has mobilized to ship a truckload of water; arriving in Louisville, CO tomorrow morning (1/4). We are determining additional water canning and shipping capacity with our water partners and expect to send another truckload by the end of the week. The most immediate way to assist with these efforts is to donate to help cover associated hard costs.

We are in talks with our local partners and supporters to determine needs and how to engage our volunteers most effectively. Currently, we are planning to continue our wildfire mitigation and recovery efforts from 2021 with Boulder County Open Space. We will also continue to assess community needs to determine appropriate Can’d Aid programming to offset the traumatic and lingering effects following a disaster and will update our supporters with additional opportunities to support as they arise.”

Donate now to support immediate water relief needs and long-term recovery efforts.
