Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA Joins the Non-Alcoholic Lineup

Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA Joins the Non-Alcoholic Lineup
// Supply-drop report from Chico: a new can has been spotted;
and the Bureau's breathalyzer barely flickered. //

Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA is the next non-alcoholic beer headed for the Sierra Nevada lineup. The label, published by MyBeerBuzz, shows a non-alcoholic tropical IPA at less than 0.5% ABV in 12-ounce cans, and MyBeerBuzz says it is expected in 2027.

That is most of what is known. The label lists no hops, no tasting notes and no bitterness level, and no exact release date, price or distribution plan has been announced.

What the Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA label says

The label text reproduced by MyBeerBuzz reads “Non-Alcoholic Tropical IPA,” “12 fluid ounces” and “less than 0.5% alc. by vol.” It also describes the beer as a “non-alcoholic beverage with natural flavors,” so the tropical character comes at least partly from added natural flavors. The label lists Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina, and carries the brewery’s “Family owned, operated & argued over” line.

MyBeerBuzz describes the can design as the familiar Sierra Nevada banner over a green Trail Pass field, with an orange lower band calling out “Non-Alcoholic Tropical IPA.”

Under 0.5% means non-alcoholic, not zero

As MyBeerBuzz points out, “less than 0.5%” puts the beer in the non-alcoholic category while acknowledging it can contain a trace of alcohol. That matters for drinkers who avoid alcohol entirely rather than just cutting back.

Joining the Trail Pass family

Trail Pass is Sierra Nevada’s non-alcoholic line, and the brewery’s beer page already lists Trail Pass NA IPA. MyBeerBuzz frames the tropical version as an extension of that range. The Bureau would like to know which hops are doing the tropical work, but Sierra Nevada hasn’t said, and guessing pineapple or mango would be fiction.

The NA cooler keeps getting more crowded. BeerAlien recently covered Easy Does It’s push into San Diego and Oregon, 805’s 8ZERO5 and Athletic Brewing’s giant NA brewery. A Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA from one of craft beer’s founding breweries would be a serious entry.

Until Sierra Nevada announces a date and a hop bill, Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Tropical IPA is a label and a 2027 promise. The Bureau will keep its scanners on Chico.
