Ocean Beach Breweries and Point Loma Taprooms: A Verified SD Beer Week Guide

Ocean Beach Breweries and Point Loma Taprooms: A Verified SD Beer Week Guide

Our landing party touched down where the 8 freeway runs out of road, and here’s the map: this guide to Ocean Beach breweries and Point Loma taprooms covers nine spots, each checked on Nov. 3, 2026 for address and hours against its own website. It’s timed for San Diego Beer Week 2026 (Nov. 6–15), when the peninsula is an easy crawl. OB’s taprooms are packed within a few walkable blocks, and Point Loma adds a waterfront biergarten, a Liberty Station bistro and two Midway-area tasting rooms.

Every listing links to the page we checked. Hours shift around holidays and Beer Week events, so treat this as a snapshot from Nov. 3, 2026 and confirm before you go. For the rest of the county, see our San Diego brewery list.

Ocean Beach breweries on and around Newport

Pizza Port Ocean Beach

Pizza Port’s OB brewpub opened in 2010 with a 15-barrel brewing system and 40 taps, the company says, and it sits a block from the beach. It’s the one spot on this list that clearly brews on site, serves full food and stays open latest on weekends.

OB Brewery

OB Brewery opened in 2016 on Newport Avenue, a block from the sand, and its posted hours run to 9 p.m. most nights and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The building is listed for sale, but the business remains open and fully operational, San Diego Beer News reported. The site also lists holiday hours for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

California Wild Ales Ocean Beach

California Wild Ales calls itself San Diego’s sour house, and its Newport Avenue tasting room keeps the longest hours of its two locations, including a 10 a.m. Sunday opening. This is a tasting room. The barrelhouse and production brewery is in the Midway area (below).

North OB: Cable and Voltaire

Mike Hess’s Ocean Beach tasting room is on the corner of Cable and Voltaire, a few blocks from OB Dog Beach. The brewery says it’s dog- and kid-friendly and lets you bring your own food. Trivia runs Monday and Thursday nights, 7 to 9 p.m. Kilowatt’s Ocean Beach tap room is a short walk away on Cable Street and lists events most weeknights on its calendar.

Point Loma taprooms

Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten

Eppig’s dockside biergarten at Shelter Island Marina is where the company’s San Diego story started, the brewery says. Seating is almost all outdoors and there’s no on-site parking; the nearest public lot is at Shelter Island Drive and Anchorage Lane. Groups of 15 or more must call ahead at least 24 hours in advance.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station

Stone’s Liberty Station bistro is in a former U.S. Navy mess hall and has 40 taps of Stone and guest beers, plus a bocce court and garden, Stone says. It’s a full restaurant, and Stone recommends reservations for dining. The Stone Company Store next door sells bottles, kegs and growlers.

Midway-area taprooms

Two more spots sit on the Midway side of Point Loma. California Wild Ales’ barrelhouse on Sherman Street is open only on weekends, noon to 6 p.m. Bay City Brewing’s Point Loma room on Hancock Street opens Thursday through Sunday. Bay City also runs an East Village taproom, which isn’t covered here.

Ocean Beach breweries we left out

  • Nova Easy Kombucha (4845 Newport Ave.): closed in June 2026, per SanDiegoVille. It was a Novo Brazil hard-kombucha tasting room, not a brewery taproom.
  • Culture Brewing (Ocean Beach): closed. It occupied the Newport Avenue space from 2014 to 2020, according to San Diego Beer News.
  • Newport Pizza & Ale House: closed, a beer bar rather than a brewery, per San Diego Beer News.
  • Other Point Loma or Liberty Station taps: anything not on our brewery list, or without official hours we could confirm on Nov. 3, was left out instead of guessed.

Plan your OB and Point Loma crawl

A loose plan for Beer Week: start at Eppig or Stone in Point Loma in the afternoon, then head to OB, where Pizza Port, OB Brewery and California Wild Ales are all on or near Newport and Mike Hess and Kilowatt cluster at the north end of town. Note the two Midway rooms’ limited days, check each spot’s site before you go, and leave the car at home. Parking near the beach is tight, and you’ll want a designated driver or a rideshare.

Transmission complete.
