Kearny Mesa is best known for the restaurants along Convoy Street, but the business parks around it hide a solid cluster of Kearny Mesa breweries. This guide covers five brewery taprooms plus one brewery-run bar and eatery. We checked each one’s address and posted hours on its own website on Nov. 6, 2026; where a business’s own pages disagree, we say so. Hours change, especially around holidays, so check before you go.

Everything here is in Kearny Mesa, on or near Convoy Street and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Quantum is the exception: it sits on the east side of the neighborhood along Kearny Villa Road. For Miramar, the next cluster north, see our separate Miramar breweries guide.

Societe Brewing Company

8262 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego 92111 · Brewery and tasting room

Societe brews on site and pours in a tasting room next to its brewhouse. The board usually covers West Coast IPAs, Belgian-style ales, stouts and lagers, and a food truck works the patio, according to San Diego Beer News. For a recent Societe IPA, see The Artifact.

Hours as posted: Monday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; Tuesday–Saturday 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday hours conflict between Societe’s own pages. Its visit page says 10 a.m.–7 p.m., while its online store says 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Confirm before a Sunday visit. Societe’s Old Town taproom is a separate location with different hours.

Hopnonymous Brewing

7705 Convoy Court, San Diego 92111 · Brewery and taproom

Hopnonymous took over the former Council Brewing space in 2019, San Diego Beer News reports. It was meant to contract-brew house beers for restaurants, but its own taproom took off instead. Expect a long list of hoppy beers and lagers alongside sours, stouts and seltzers, plus food pop-ups listed on its events calendar. Hopnonymous also has a newer satellite on Adams Avenue in Normal Heights.

Hours as posted: Monday 3–9 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday 1–9 p.m.; Friday–Saturday noon–10 p.m.; Sunday noon–7 p.m.

Ketch Brewing brew pub

7889 Ostrow St., San Diego 92111 · Production brewery with a brew pub and kitchen

Ketch is the house brewery of the Brigantine restaurant group, which supplies beer to its restaurants from this Kearny Mesa site. The brew pub serves food, and Ketch’s core lineup includes Alta Mar Mexican-style amber lager and Celestial Navigation San Diego-style IPA. This is the only Ketch location in this guide. Ketch Grill & Taps on Shelter Island and its other San Diego outposts are separate venues.

Hours as posted on Ketch’s brew pub page: Monday–Thursday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday 11 a.m.–8:30 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; closed Sunday.

Kilowatt Brewing Kearny Mesa

7576 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego 92111 · Brewery and taproom with a speakeasy

Kilowatt’s main brewery is the one with black-light art, interactive lighting and oversized games. It also has Forbidden Cove, a hidden tiki bar inside that Kilowatt says is open Thursday through Saturday. Its small-batch beers lean playful alongside IPAs and seltzers.

Hours as posted on Kilowatt’s taproom page: closed Monday; Tuesday 4–10 p.m.; Wednesday–Thursday 4–11 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 2 p.m.–midnight; Sunday 2–9 p.m. Kilowatt’s Ocean Beach and Oceanside taprooms keep different hours.

Quantum Brewing

5375 Kearny Villa Road, Suite 116, San Diego 92123 · Nanobrewery and taproom

Quantum is a small, science-themed taproom in a strip center on the east side of Kearny Mesa. It’s a separate stop from the Convoy cluster. Per its visit page, it is family-friendly, welcomes dogs and lets you bring in outside food.

Hours as posted: Monday noon–8 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday noon–9 p.m.; Friday–Saturday noon–10 p.m.; closed Sunday.

Also pouring: Embolden’s Ramen Station

8068 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego 92111 · Restaurant and bar, not a brewery

Embolden Beer Co. brews in Miramar, but its Kearny Mesa outpost is a self-serve instant ramen bar connected to Matcha Cafe Maiko. San Diego Beer News reports a 27-tap bar there pouring Embolden and New Motion drinks plus sake and soju. Its own site lists 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Wednesday and until 11 p.m. Friday–Saturday. Thursday’s closing time didn’t display clearly when we checked, so confirm it.

Not included

  • Ataraxia Aleworks (Opportunity Road) closed in March 2025, per San Diego Beer News.
  • Hodad’s Brewing in nearby Serra Mesa is a production brewery that isn’t open to the public.
  • Miramar breweries, including AleSmith, are covered in our Miramar guide.

Planning a Kearny Mesa brewery stop

Societe, Kilowatt and Ramen Station all sit on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, with Hopnonymous and Ketch on side streets nearby. Quantum is a separate stop to the east. Ketch and Quantum are closed Sunday and Kilowatt is closed Monday, so a weekday afternoon or Saturday covers the most ground. Plan a designated driver or rideshare. For the rest of the county, see our San Diego brewery list.

Addresses and posted hours checked on each business’s website on Nov. 6, 2026; background from San Diego Beer News’ Kearny Mesa brewery guide (July 15, 2026).
