Vista Breweries Guide: Where to Drink in North County’s Brewery Capital

Vista Breweries Guide: Where to Drink in North County’s Brewery Capital

Our scouts have charted the Route 78 corridor locals call the Hops Highway, so here’s the landing map: this guide to Vista breweries covers 11 taprooms and beer stops, each checked on Nov. 2, 2026 for open status, address and hours. It’s timed for San Diego Beer Week 2026 (Nov. 6-15) and for a fall that has thinned Vista’s lineup. Prohibition Brewing and The Roadies have both closed, and The Lost Abbey is leaving its Vista brewery at year’s end.

Vista has more brewing facilities than any other city in the county except San Diego itself, one local real-estate market report notes. Every listing below links to the source we checked, usually the business’s own site. Hours change around holidays and Beer Week events, so treat this as a snapshot from Nov. 2, 2026 and confirm before you drive. Heading inland? Pair this with our Escondido and San Marcos brewery guide.

Verified on Nov. 2, 2026 against each business’s own website. Two listings have caveats: The Lost Abbey’s hours conflict across its pages, and BattleMage’s site showed only partial weekend hours.

Vista’s anchors

Mother Earth Brew Co.

Mother Earth’s Vista taproom is the company’s original brewery and watering hole, founded in 2010, according to its site. The room has an industrial look with reclaimed cedar on the walk-in cooler. It’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan a midweek or weekend visit.

Pure Project Vista Brewery & Taproom

Pure Project’s Vista location is its brewery headquarters, a 14,000-square-foot facility with a 15-barrel brewhouse, the brewery says. A food truck is on site most Thursdays through Sundays, and outside food from neighboring restaurants is welcome. Note the early 3 p.m. close on Saturday, Nov. 7, during Beer Week.

The Lost Abbey (Vista brewery)

This is the last season to drink at The Lost Abbey’s Keystone Way brewery, which the company is leaving by the end of 2026, the company has said. Its satellite taprooms aren’t affected. Hours vary by source: Lost Abbey’s shop locations page lists the hours above, but a brewery page on its main site shows Mondays closed and loads live hours that didn’t display when we checked. Call ahead.

Downtown Vista

Belching Beaver Brewery Tavern & Grill

Belching Beaver’s Tavern & Grill on East Broadway pairs the brand’s beer with a food menu and is open seven days, starting at 11 a.m. on weekends.

Bear Roots Brewing

Bear Roots runs two Vista spots. Its brewery shares space with a homebrew supply shop on South Santa Fe Avenue, open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and its downtown tasting room is a short walk from the Belching Beaver tavern on East Broadway.

The business park breweries

Booze Brothers Brewing Co.

Booze Brothers’ Progress Street taproom opens at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays, among the earliest of the industrial-park stops. The company also runs an Oceanside location.

Belching Beaver Pub980

Pub980 is Belching Beaver’s camping-themed pub on Park Center Drive. Its site says it pours rotating taps, plus wine, mead and cider.

Aztec Brewing Co.

Aztec’s La Mirada Drive tasting room keeps evening hours most days and is closed Tuesdays. Wednesday and Sunday hours vary, so check before you go.

BattleMage Brewing Co.

BattleMage calls itself the “home of wizards, warriors, and beer.” Weekday hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Its site didn’t show weekend opening times or Sunday hours when we checked.

CoLab Public House and Shogun Brewing

CoLab Public House in the Vista Business Park pours craft beer, wine and spirits alongside Mexican food. On Sunday, Nov. 15, the last day of Beer Week, it hosts the grand opening of Shogun Brewing, Embolden’s Japanese-inspired brand of beers, hard teas and seltzers, from noon to 6 p.m.

Vista breweries we left out

These came up in our research but didn’t make the cut:

  • Prohibition Brewing Co.: closed. The East Vista Way brewpub wound down this fall after nearly 15 years, and its business and property are listed for sale, How To Beer reported.
  • The Roadies Brewing: closed. Its final pours were Oct. 18 after a short-lived comeback.
  • Indian Joe Brewing: unverified. Its website returned a 404 error on Nov. 2, and we couldn’t confirm current hours.
  • Guadalupe Brewery: unverified. Its site, now branded Guadalupe Taphouse, didn’t list hours, and its hours page returned a 404 error.
  • Barrel Harbor Brewing: unverified. Its old web address now redirects to an unrelated site.
  • Wavelength Brewing and Beach Grease Beer Co.: unverified. Their websites didn’t load with any content on Nov. 2.
  • Toolbox Brewing and Iron Fist Brewing: closed. The Roadies took over Toolbox’s old suite, and Pure Project now occupies Iron Fist’s former building, per a local market report.

Plan your Hops Highway crawl

Start with a weekday afternoon at Mother Earth or Pure Project, swing downtown for food at Belching Beaver and a nightcap at Bear Roots, and save a Beer Week weekend for a farewell round at The Lost Abbey’s brewery before it goes dark. Vista lost two taprooms this fall, but it still has more than enough beer to fill a day. We’ll re-check the hours after Beer Week.

Transmission complete.
