A new pFriem Portland location is in the works, Earthlings. pFriem Family Brewers plans to open at 2216 SE 50th Ave. in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood, in the former Hinterland bar and food-truck lot, New School Beer + Cider reported Oct. 23. It would be pFriem’s third spot, after its Hood River home base and its Milwaukie location.
New School’s report is based on a city public notice. pFriem has not announced an opening date, so treat this as planned, not open.
What the pFriem Portland location would look like
According to the notice as reported by New School:
- about 30 seats indoors and 92 outdoors
- applied-for hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends
Hinterland, which opened in January 2022 from Ryan Schenk and Rowan Dunlap, poured from 12 taps and hosted five food trucks: Matt’s BBQ Tacos, Thai Panther, Pizza Machine, Hunker Down and Indian Spice Kart.
Open questions
- When the pFriem Portland location opens. No date has been given.
- Whether the food trucks stay. New School does not say.
- What pFriem will pour or serve there. Nothing has been announced.
The Bureau last tracked pFriem when it teamed up with Fort George on companion West Coast and Hazy IPAs. A pFriem Portland location inside city limits would be a first for the brewery, and we will report back when the brewery confirms details.
