The Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing is official. Marble Brewery announced on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, that it will pour its last beer at its taproom at 9904 Montgomery NE in Albuquerque at the end of December, according to the Albuquerque Journal. The Heights location has been open for 10 years, KRQE reported.
Why the Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing is happening
Marble pointed to rent. In its social media post, the company said the building’s rent was “not sustainable,” KOB 4 reported, and that keeping it open would mean the other taprooms and the brewery would have to carry it. The Journal reports the decision came after a year and a half of dealing with the issue.
“This sucks. It’s also the right call,” the post said, as quoted by the Journal.
What the Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing means for staff and events
- Staff: Co-owner Jarrett Babincsak told the Journal that eight staff members are affected, and interested employees can “discuss opportunities to remain with Marble in other locations or roles.” KOB’s summary is a bit stronger: it says the Heights crew will stay with the brewery. The Bureau reads the Journal’s version, a choice to discuss other roles, as the more precise one.
- Events: Events and rentals already booked at the Heights location through December will still go on.
- Celebration: KOB reported that Marble planned a 10-year celebration at the Heights location on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Downtown and Westside stay open
The Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing does not touch Marble’s other two Albuquerque taprooms. The Downtown and Westside locations remain open. The company also said specials and local collaborations will continue.
There is a separate real-estate move. The Journal reports that Marble’s Downtown facilities were listed for sale a few weeks earlier, in a deal designed to keep the company there as a tenant while raising capital for expansion. Albuquerque Business First adds that the Heights location housed the pilot-system brewery that made specialty beers for all Marble taprooms. That article is paywalled past its opening, so the Bureau does not know where that pilot brewing will move.
A brewery under new ownership
The Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing comes during Marble’s second year under new owners. The brewery changed hands at the start of 2025, KOB reports, with a group that includes a former Santa Fe Brewing Company sales and marketing executive. In August, Babincsak told the Journal the brewery was getting through industry headwinds by focusing on quality beer and community. The Bureau has watched Marble for a while, including the Day Ghost release party with Meow Wolf back in 2021.
If the Heights taproom was your local, you have until the end of December. The Bureau suggests a final pint before the Marble Brewery Northeast Heights closing is complete.
Transmission complete. Salute the Heights crew on your way out.
