Aldus Brewing and Wege Pretzels Pack Four Pretzel Beers Into One Hanover 12-Pack

Aldus Brewing and Wege Pretzels Pack Four Pretzel Beers Into One Hanover 12-Pack

Snack intelligence from Hanover, Pennsylvania: Earthlings have figured out how to put the bar snack inside the beer, then put four of them in one box.

A new pretzel beer variety pack is on the way from Snack Town. Aldus Brewing Company and Wege Pretzels, both based in Hanover, Pennsylvania, have teamed up on a Pretzel Variety 12-Pack built around Aldus’ Pretzel Wheat Ale, Breweries in PA reports.

What’s in the pretzel beer variety pack

  • Pretzel Wheat Ale: Aldus’ original pretzel beer, brewed with more than 160 pounds of real pretzels. The brewery lists toasted grain, light caramel and buttered-toast notes, a fresh-baked pretzel character and a clean, dry finish.
  • Chocolate Pretzel: Real Wege Pretzels paired with chocolate.
  • Peanut Butter Pretzel: Peanut butter plus pretzel.
  • Salted Caramel Pretzel: A returning seasonal that balances caramel with a touch of salt.

The report does not give ABVs for any of the four beers, or styles for the three flavored ones. The Bureau will not guess, so check the can or ask at the taproom.

Why Hanover

The Chocolate Pretzel, per the report, uses real Wege Pretzels from down the road. The report does not say how the other two flavored beers are made. The pack takes Aldus’ pretzel idea beyond a single pint and spreads it across sweet and salty versions.

Hanover is known as “Snack Town” for its long history of pretzels, chips and other snack foods. Pairing a local brewery with a local pretzel maker keeps the whole thing in the neighborhood.

This is not Hanover’s first pretzel-and-beer crossover on our radar. The Bureau earlier covered Snyder’s of Hanover and Captain Lawrence launching pretzel-infused Oktoberfest beers. The Aldus pretzel beer variety pack goes further, with four pretzel ideas in one box.

Where and when to find it

The pretzel beer variety pack is expected at select retailers, distributors, taprooms and specialty food shops in Pennsylvania and western Maryland starting the first week of November. Pricing was not announced.

If you are in that zone, the Bureau suggests opening the pretzel beer variety pack next to a bowl of actual pretzels. It seems only polite.

Transmission complete. Twist, salt, sip, repeat.
