/// The Deftones frequency has been detected over Petco Park again, Earthlings;
and this time it smells like lime. ///
The Dia de los Deftones lager is back for year 7. Deftones and Belching Beaver Brewery, the North County San Diego brewery, have re-released their lime-infused Mexican lager. It went on sale Friday, Oct. 16, at every Belching Beaver location and online for California residents, and it will pour throughout the Dia de los Deftones festival at Petco Park on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
What the band actually said
The announcement came from Deftones on social media, and Nu Metal Agenda transcribed the Dia de los Deftones lager announcement. Lowercase, as Deftones posted it:
“our @diadelosdeftones lime-infused mexican lager is back for year 7. in collaboration with @belchingbeaver, it will be available starting today, oct 16, at all bb locations and online at belchingbeaver.com for ca residents. as always, it will be served throughout the festival on nov 7 at petco park.”
That is the whole briefing. Brief, calm, a little moody. It reads like Deftones, which the Bureau considers a strong sign of authenticity.
What does the Dia de los Deftones lager label say?
The announcement does not list an alcohol content. For that we went to the paperwork. The federal label approval, dated Sept. 28, 2026 and logged by Hop Grail, shows a 16-ounce can, and the label lists 5% ABV. It also reads “Mexican-style lager with lime” and “lager with natural flavor added,” with Belching Beaver’s Oceanside, California, address in the brewed-and-canned line. Belching Beaver’s online store listing shows the same 5% and sells the beer as a 16-ounce six-pack, limit two per customer.
The store page also says the collaboration “returns with all-new artwork for 2026” and describes the beer as “Bright, crisp, and refreshing with a hint of lime.” Those are the brewery’s words. The Bureau has not tasted this year’s Dia de los Deftones lager and will not pretend otherwise. The art on the Dia de los Deftones lager can is easy to describe: a woman in calavera makeup under a crown of pale blue roses, with a white snake wrapped around her shoulders.
Where the Dia de los Deftones lager is headed
Per the band’s post, distribution “will begin rolling out” to California, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, Minnesota, Nebraska, Texas and Colorado. Outside the U.S., it lists Mexico, China, Japan and Aruba. That is 10 states and four countries. Our sensors suggest this lime lager may have a wider orbit than a lot of probes.
“Rolling out” is not a delivery date. Shelves outside California may take a while, and the band did not say when each market gets cans. If you are in one of those states, ask your local bottle shop rather than staking out a cooler.
The festival it was made for
The Dia de los Deftones lager exists for one day a year: the Dia de los Deftones festival, Saturday, Nov. 7, at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. The lineup Nu Metal Agenda printed includes Deftones, AFI, Converge and The Neighbourhood, along with several more acts. Over at SDMETAL, there is a Dia de los Deftones event listing with ticket info for anyone planning the trip downtown.
Seven years is a long collaboration
This partnership predates the lager. BeerAlien covered White Pony Double Dry Hopped IPA in 2020, a beer marking the album’s 20th anniversary, when the brewery said it had been working with the band since 2016. We also logged Ceremony DDH Hazy IPA, billed in August 2021 as the brewery’s eighth Deftones collaboration, and the holiday Deftones mixed pack with Ohms Pale Ale, Digital Bath Hazy IPA, Good Morning Beautiful and Phantom Bride IPA. If you are mapping the rest of the local scene before Nov. 7, our San Diego brewery list covers it.
Seven years in, the Dia de los Deftones lager is still the house beer of a November night at Petco Park. The Bureau will be watching for green-tinged signals over the East Village on Nov. 7.
