Oktoberfest is upon us and while Covid19 has canceled practically every Oktobfest event for 2020, we still wanted to share our thoughts on two of the classics… Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier and Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen. Those of you humans that know these beers (biers for you European humans) will remember that they are what Oktoberfest lagers are all about. They both have clean, crisp and refreshing flavor and both of them have aromas that tickle your noses and invite you to drink and enjoy.
So let us take a closer look at these Oktoberfest classics a little:
Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier:
This is the “official” Oktoberfest beer (bier) served at the Paulaner tents in Germany during Oktoberfest. Of course with Covid19, this year’s physical Oktoberfest was canceled so we decided to have the Paulaner experience at home.
There is a nice hop flavor with an expected malt background. Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier has the expected bready flavor with hints of honey and green apple. There is a subtle, but nice white pepper finish on the end. Clean and crisp, this lager is delicious and pairs perfectly with the breadiness of pretzels.
Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier is only brewed for Oktoberfest and we look forward to this beer every year. The perfect balance of light and dark malts create a flavor that is welcoming and refreshing. If you need to taste Oktoberfest in a glass, this is it.
ABV: 6.0
Hops: Herkules, Hallertauer Tradition
Malts: Pilsner malt, Munich Malt
Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen:
This beer has a rich copper color and immediately awakens your sense of smell with bready malts and a hint of apple. The first sip hits you with caramel and biscuit flavors which makes you immediately happy that these come in 6 and 12 packs. Darker and richer than the Oktoberfest Bier, the marzen offers that extra flavor for those of you humans who find the regular lager a little too light. The creamy mouthfeel dances across the tongue making Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen very, very drinkable.
This style was created over 200 years ago for the first Oktoberfest and has been enjoyed since. Available all year, you humans can enjoy the taste of this Oktoberfest classic any time you want. Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen is best served nice and cold.
ABV: 5.8
Hops: Herkules, Hallertauer Tradition
Malts: Pilsner malt, Munich Malt
