Voodoo Brewing Opens Herndon Brewpub Oct. 24 at Makers Rise

Voodoo Brewing Opens Herndon Brewpub Oct. 24 at Makers Rise
/// INCOMING INTERSTELLAR SIGNAL ///

Voodoo Brewing Herndon opens Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2315 Dulles Station Blvd. in the Makers Rise complex, bringing the Pennsylvania-based brewery to Northern Virginia’s growing beer scene, Out & About Fairfax reports. The brewpub is a franchise location run by Curry Lee of Reston, and the Bureau has the landing coordinates locked.

What to expect at Voodoo Brewing Herndon

Field notes for human operatives: Lee runs the location under Voodoo’s franchise program. The plan calls for 12 to 15 Voodoo beers, with up to 24 taps pouring other rotating selections. Executive chef Jarroun Durrette runs a kitchen built around specialty pizzas and smash burgers, and pinball machines are part of the landing gear. Hours have not been published yet.

The Burn separately reported that the brewpub will also have a full bar and will be the first Voodoo Brewing Co. in Northern Virginia, joining locations in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. Watch the Voodoo Herndon website for hours. Out & About Fairfax adds that Voodoo is the latest brewpub to open in Herndon, following Hawkley Brewing and NH44 Indian Brewing Company earlier this year, so this sector of the Earth map is getting crowded.

Three Voodoo specimens to scan for

Out & About Fairfax names three popular Voodoo beers. Herndon’s exact opening tap list hasn’t been posted, so check the board on arrival. ABVs are from Voodoo’s own website:

  • Good Vibes, West Coast IPA, 7.3% ABV. Voodoo says it’s hopped five times in the kettle and double dry-hopped with Galaxy, Amarillo and Mosaic.
  • Voodoo Love Child, fruited Belgian tripel, 9.5% ABV. Voodoo says it ages the tripel on cherries, raspberries and passion fruit.
  • Oh Mama, lager, 6% ABV. Voodoo calls it a traditional golden American lager made in collaboration with the band Styx.

The crew behind the bar

Lee has a decade of experience in hospitality. “One of our first tenets is community. Craft beer without community is just beer,” he told Out & About Fairfax. “A space for everyone to come in. It’s good beer and good food.”

Durrette, who worked with Lee at Honor Brewing, was most recently Performance Executive Chef for the Washington Nationals and earlier a sous chef for the Washington Commanders. Lee promises bar food “but done really well,” and Durrette hinted at extras beyond the corporate menu: “We’re going to step outside the box a little bit and have some fun.”

As for opening-day nerves, Lee says they’re gone. “I’m ready for it,” he said. Earthlings in the Dulles corridor, the portal opens Oct. 24.
