Glamping, Grovestand, Double Orange StarFish. These aren’t just highlights from your summer road trip. They’re also the names of craft beers that fans in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) wait in lines for upwards of four hours to snag!
Locals will tell you that, before Aslin opened their first brewery five years ago, if you didn’t live in Herndon, VA, there was no reason to go there. Aslin gave beer geeks a reason. And, now that Aslin is working with online retailer Tavour, brew-enthusiasts around the country will soon taste the fermented fruits of Aslin’s labor.
Before Aslin, the bulk of the beer crafted in the area came from breweries that focused on classic styles like Pale Ales, Porters, Amber Ales, and Lagers.
The creative minds at Aslin fall in line with a shortlist of the country’s most innovative breweries. That’s why, when you ask them about their most unique beers, they’ll point out that there’s so much creativity in craft beer right now, it’s hard to say what counts as unique anymore.
Probe further, and they’ll dive into great detail about the nuances of their wine-beer hybrids like Chubby Unicorns Stout made with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and cocoa nibs. Or their Cabernet Blanc barrel-aged Animal (Farm)House Saison. They’ll gab about mixed culture, spontaneously-fermented Saisons that they age for 12-24 months.
Give them the time, and you’ll hear all about their crowd-sourced, barrel-aged pastry Stouts. For these, fans chip in with their buddies to purchase a whole barrel of beer to themselves and pick out their favorite dessert ingredients to add to the brew. The most popular choices have been marshmallows, peanut butter, coconut, and caramel!
All this innovation is why Aslin’s beers are in such crazy demand. And now, craft fans can skip the road trip to Herdon and the 4-hour lines and pick up Aslin’s delicious brews on the Tavour app, for the very first time!
