TTB Issues Ruling On Voluntary Calorie Statements on Labels

The TBB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) expanded the tolerances for voluntary calorie statements on labels for malt beverages (beer), wine and distilled spirits. This ruling also has the following clarification regarding laboratory analyses:

“TTB is also clarifying that industry members are not required to obtain laboratory analyses of each batch to substantiate voluntary nutrient content statements on labels or in advertisements for wines, distilled spirits, or malt beverages.”

This ruling does not require any changes to approved labels.
