“Coffee is my shepherd; I shall not doze. It maketh me to wake in green pastures. It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses. It restoreth my brain, It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for it’s name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of sleep, I will fear no artificial sweetener for thou art with me; Thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me. Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of my zzz’s, Thou anointest my day with sunlight; My cup runneth over. Surely richness and flavor shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of Cappuccino forever… Let us sip… or whatever…”
The color is dark cola, not totally pitch black. The pour had a nice thin foam head that lasted for several minutes. The aroma on this smells of coffee ( like your would think) and balances out with roasted malt, maple syrup and dark chocolate. It starts out almost a little creamy, but as it warms it thins out and you get more of the carbonation. The taste is the of weak coffee but with a slight lactose finish followed more fudge-like chocolate mixed with caramel and bourbon .
The palate is about a medium to heavy perhaps due to the fairly high ABV. It just fits its style very well. It still coats the tongue and mouth very smoothly. Overall, this is an excellent beer.
While this is a pretty “thin” version for a Cappuccino Stout, the ABV and bitterness make up for it, and even though I enjoyed this beer, I wish it was a little thicker and had a little more mouthfeel.
