Smoking Cannon Brewery in Ramona opened a new tasting room at 638 Main St. on Oct. 2. It sits next to Pamo Valley Winery at 636 Main St., and the two share tasting-room space. That’s according to Hoodline, which cites reporting by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Smoking Cannon Brewery and Pamo Valley share a room
Hoodline says the two businesses share a wall and interior space and pour at the same time, so beer and wine drinkers can mix in the same room. The brewery is family-friendly. The winery welcomes children and well-behaved dogs, and local restaurants deliver food to the winery.
Jennifer Lane owns the Pamo Valley Winery tasting room. She took over the vineyard in 2007, and the first tasting room opened in 2011 before moving to 636 Main St. Hoodline says the new Smoking Cannon space was previously a Ramona workspace.
New owners
The Goforths, a couple, now own the brewery, and Cassie Goforth told the Union-Tribune the tasting-room idea made sense. The sources disagree on when they bought it: the Union-Tribune reported the sale closed in May 2025, while San Diego Beer News reported June. The sellers were Mike Nelson and Natallie Phillips, who retired.
Smoking Cannon Brewery hours and beers: what we couldn’t confirm
We couldn’t confirm the new tasting room’s hours or tap list from Smoking Cannon itself. When we checked, the brewery’s website still listed only 780 Main St. (entrance on 8th St.), with hours of Thursday 4:30-9 p.m., Friday 4:30-10 p.m., Saturday noon-10 p.m. and Sunday noon-7 p.m. It did not mention 638 Main St. We don’t know if those hours apply to the new room or if 780 Main St. is still open.
The site describes a lineup of lagers, reds, pale ales and stouts, plus a chili beer and a pickle beer, but doesn’t list current taps. Hoodline gives Pamo Valley’s hours as 2-6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 2-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 2-8 p.m. Friday, noon-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Call ahead before you drive up to Ramona.
