Here’s a for-sale listing our probes don’t see often: Severance Brewing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is on the market. Its owners describe it as debt-free and profitable. Severance Brewing Company at The Cascade at Falls Park says it will close when its lease ends in June 2027 unless a buyer steps in to keep it running, Dakota News Now reported Nov. 2.
Why Severance Brewing is selling
The owners say they are stepping away to focus on their family. In the brewery’s Facebook announcement on Nov. 2, they say the business is debt-free and profitable. The decision is about family, not finances. The sale is listed with Transworld Business Advisors, according to Dakota Broadcasting.
What happens until June 2027
- Location: The Cascade at Falls Park, downtown Sioux Falls
- Hours: normal taproom hours until the lease ends or a sale closes
- Deadline: the brewery plans to close at the end of its lease in June 2027 if no buyer takes over
- Broker: Transworld Business Advisors
No asking price has been made public. Ownership changes have been a theme in the Upper Midwest this fall, including Summit Brewing lining up a new lender.
A taproom looking for its next crew
Most of the brewery closings we track come with red ink. This one comes with an open door: a brewery whose owners say it makes money, and seven months or more for someone to take the keys. Until then, it’s business as usual at the Falls.
