The Waldos Special Ale by Lagunitas Brewing Company

This tasty beer is latest offering from Lagunitas part of their 2018 Heavy Hitter Series, and let me tell you this beer is indeed a “Heavy Hitter”.
The appearance is a clear deep yellow with minimal lacing but decent head retention, in addition to have chunks of hop particles floating in the glass as well.
The nose is simply fabulous with a huge citrus smell, lots of pineapple, mango and papaya with a slight butterscotch smell as well.
The taste is boozy and has a slight sweetness to it as well, in addition to a slight bitter pine taste as well. The next sips follow up with a slight caramel sweetness as well, and despite the high ABV there is almost little to no “burn”.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed this beer and recommend it to anyone who likes a “Triple IPA” that drinks like a double IPA yet has the ABV and the mouthfeel to back up the boozy flavor and taste. The beer went down smooth albeit a little too fast but that’s just a compliment to the flavor profile!
