Basic Chemistry for Winemakers Online: Designed as a prerequisite for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education’s Winemaking Certificate Program, this course introduces the basic tenets of general, organic and biological chemistry and serves as a foundation for understanding the science behind the winemaking process. In this 12-week, online course, you will receive an introduction to basic chemistry topics and areas of organic and biochemistry not usually covered in typical single-semester college chemistry.

Introduction to Wine and Winemaking Online: Designed for individuals working in the wine industry and affiliated networks, as well as wine enthusiasts, this course explores such topics as the history of wine, fundamentals of the winemaking process, wine and health issues, basic wine tasting, interpreting a wine label and wine-growing regions around the world. This course can be taken as a stand-alone course or as the first course in the Winemaking Certificate Program.

Accounting and Finance for the Vineyard and Winery In Davis: Designed for vineyard and winery owners, this in-person course will give you an overview of useful business practices for developing wineries. You will learn about the process of creating a business plan from start to finish and gain important accounting, finance and business skills. This course will give you the practical experience to develop your own business plan and apply accounting principles to successfully maintain a winery of any size.

Current Issues in Vineyard Health In Davis: This in-person course introduces aspiring winemakers to the challenges of vineyard health. You will learn from departmental experts involved in developing solutions to the issues associated with grape pests and diseases. You’ll discover the best practices for maintaining a healthy vineyard, including controlling grape fungal and viral diseases, breeding grapevines for disease resistance and pest control. Industry experts will give you an introduction to grapevine disease ecology and epidemiology.
