NOVA has partnered with the San Diego Padres for City Connect-themed Sunset Slam Mango Lime hard kombucha, which will be available at Petco Park beginning on the stateside Opening Day of the 2024 Major League Baseball season on Thursday, March 28. NOVA Founder Tiago Carneiro made the announcement.
Sunset Slam will be served on draft and in 16-oz cans at multiple locations within the ballpark, and the cans feature the colors of the Padres’ City Connect uniforms. The kombucha is 8% alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and has a flavor profile of mango and lime. It is gluten free and vegan.
“The best nights in San Diego are at the ballpark cheering on our hometown Padres,” Carneiro said. “There is no more electrifying atmosphere in town, and we are proud to have such a significant presence at such a significant community gathering point. We are passionate about supporting San Diego sports, and we look forward to many memorable nights with the Padres and great kombucha.”
Sunset Slam will be available on tap in Gallagher Square and within the Craft Beers of San Diego area on the main concourse behind home plate. Cans will also be available in Seaside Market on the first base side of the main concourse and at craft grab-and go coolers throughout the ballpark.
Sunset Slam will also be available at NOVA’s Ocean Beach taproom, as well as its sister NOVO sports pubs in Mission Valley, Otay Ranch, and Imperial Beach. Official viewing parties for Padres road games will be held at NOVO sports pubs as part of the agreement, with dates for the 2024 season to be announced in the coming weeks.
Beginning April 1, the kombucha will be available in single 16-oz cans and in six packs of 12-oz cans at retail outlets throughout San Diego County (store locator).
The overall partnership is a five-year agreement, and it includes “Saturday Pregame Live Music, presented by NOVA Kombucha” naming rights. At each of the Padres’ 13 Saturday home games, the Padres House Band will perform on the Sycuan Stage in the newly renovated Gallagher Square with NOVA signage as a backdrop.
NOVA branding will be featured on all Petco Park LED screens and ribbon boards during Padres games as well.
NOVA has exclusive kombucha co-branding rights with the Padres throughout the agreement.
NOVA, which was founded by Carneiro in 2018, is the Official Hard Kombucha of San Diego Wave Fútbol Club (with La Ola Dragon Fruit Kombucha collaboration) and the Official Hard Kombucha of Snapdragon Stadium. Earlier this year, NOVA collaborated with MESA Foundation, an official Name Image Likeness (NIL) partner of San Diego State University, for Azteks Raspberry Kombucha in support of SDSU men’s basketball players.
