Mike Hess Brewing San Diego locations collecting toys for kids fighting cancer

Mike Hess Brewing of San Diego (www.mikehessbrewing.com) is collecting toys all month for the Jessie Rees Foundation, an organization started by and inspired by Jessie and her family when she was diagnosed with cancer at age 11. Through the generous giving of MHBs guests, kids fighting cancer will receive Jessie’s JoyJars® and ongoing encouragement to NEGU® (Never Ever Give Up).

MHB is collecting new, unwrapped, small toys—small enough to fit inside a 64oz JoyJar—which guests can donate at all five San Diego County MHB locations (North Park, Ocean Beach, Imperial Beach, Seaport Village, and Alpine.) All toys will be gathered and sent to Team NEGU for distribution to pediatric cancer centers across the country, bringing much-needed support to those kiddos undergoing treatment.

An organization with a personal connection, Lynda and Mike Hess’ daughter, Keely, was diagnosed with cancer when she was 12 years old and she herself was a recipient of JoyJars while a patient at Rady Children’s Hospital. It’s truly a special way to bring hope, love, and joy to a child suffering with cancer.

This will be Mike Hess Brewing’s 4th year working with Team NEGU and the Jessie Rees Foundation. To give back even more, NEGU is also the recipient of the round-up function on Hess’ point of sale for the entire month of December.

“It is quite the honor to be able to give back to such a world-class organization as Team NEGU. The JoyJars were so meaningful to not only Keely but her siblings throughout her treatment, a very bright spot of joy during what was an incredibly difficult and brutal time of treatment. With our guests’ help, we have brought in enough toys to fill thousands of JoyJars for these suffering kids, in addition to thousands of dollars of monetary support. The Jessie Rees foundation in many ways helped us crystalize our purpose of bringing people together over great beer around great causes.” – Mike Hess
