Dreamland, a new one-of-a-kind outdoor entertainment, recreation, and arts venue in Dripping Springs, will open to the public and start accepting guests on Friday, February 5. There will be a grand opening event with outdoor concerts on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13. Located on 64 acres in the Texas Hill Country, Dreamland offers an oasis of outdoor sports, music, stunning visual arts, diverse food, and a beer garden and tap room with an expertly curated variety of beer and wine from all over the region.
One of Dreamland’s most impressive features is that it boasts one of the world’s most extreme and challenging miniature golf courses. Designed by Mike Stone, the Challenge Course is an 18-hole course with three difficulty levels, creating 54 unique holes that range from par 2 to par 5. The Dream Course is a separate shorter 18-hole course with a chance for a hole-in-one on most holes. There is also a Texas-shaped putting green in the beer garden, a perfect photo opportunity and spot where players can practice.
Another sport that Dreamland takes great pride in is pickleball, a sport where tennis meets ping pong. There are four premium weather-protected, lighted courts, offering pickleball enthusiasts and newcomers a chance to hone their skills and have a great time. Patrons will have the opportunity to reserve the covered pickleball courts for private use, and Dreamland will host a wide variety of leagues, clinics and tournaments for all skill levels.
Of course, refreshments are a necessity with outdoor sports in Texas. Dreamland has an expansive sports bar and beer garden to provide visitors with a truly comprehensive Texas beer and wine experience. Bar-goers will be able to open a tab and use an RFID card to sample and drink beers and wines from one of the largest self-serve beer and wine selections in the US. The taps will feature 50 local beers, hard seltzers, ciders and kombuchas, and their wine selection will consist of 40 Central Texas and world-renowned varietals. Regional breweries and wineries that will be featured on tap at Dreamland include Austin Beerworks, Twisted X Brewery, Austin Eastciders and Pedernales Cellars along with many other local Dripping Springs breweries. Adults can sit and enjoy the beverages and brews while the kids play at the adjacent playscape and splash pad.
The Dreamland sports bar will also be the prime location for watching your favorite games. Dreamland aims to be a destination for international sports and will open early on weekends to show English Premier League soccer. With TVs throughout the bar and beer garden, your game is sure to be on! Special sporting events will be shown on the massive video wall in front of the stage where guests can lounge on the turf lawn. For the weekend of the biggest football game of the year, Dreamland has plans to host a viewing party with food and drink specials.
“We’ve been envisioning Dreamland for quite some time as a place that reflects the natural heritage of Texas and creates an inclusive experience where all guests are welcome,” said owner and founder Steve Kuhn. “It’s been so fulfilling to see Dreamland come to life; there is really something for everyone to enjoy here.”
Art has a prominent role at Dreamland. After pulling up beneath the giant Texas and American flags, Dreamland guests are welcomed by an impressive array of awe-inspiring sculptures and murals from all over the world. Gareth Maguire – an Irish artist now calling Austin home who works primarily in neo-expressionism, graffiti-style painting – is overseeing the art program at Dreamland. Walking around the grounds, guests will get a truly incredible art experience with large-scale sculptures from some of the world’s top artists and a one-of-a-kind curated mural and graffiti park utilizing repurposed rainwater storage tanks.
Sustainability is a core value of Dreamland. Dreamland captures rainwater with the iconic tanks that have been a part of Richard’s Rainwater’s history and uses that water for many operations across the venue. Dreamland also has several Tesla charging stations and an impressive solar array on the roof of the bar and beer garden. That solar energy powers many of the amazing amenities on the property. Dreamland hopes to always operate as close to carbon neutral as possible. Being good stewards of our natural resources is an important part of the Dreamland mission.
Dreamland will also welcome live music on several stages. There will be an intimate beer garden stage as well as a larger stage with a video wall towering over an expansive turf lawn. Dreamland will host an incredible variety of live entertainment appealing to all ages and musical tastes.
Many of the amenities will be free at Dreamland. The venue will only charge for mini-golf, pickleball, disc golf and for food or beverages. Some featured music or art events may require tickets. You can find more information, buy tickets, and make reservations for pickleball or mini-golf online at www.dreamlanddstx.com.
At the end of the day Dreamland is all about having fun with a purpose. Dreamland is partnered with multiple organizations to raise money and awareness for programs that they believe in. From partnering with groups like the Andy Roddick Foundation to provide under-resourced Austin children with amazing opportunities, to groups like Well Aware that work to provide sustainable safe water in East Africa, Dreamland is a mission-driven playground.
The health and safety of all Dreamland guests and patrons, as well as that of the staff and crew, is the absolute top priority. Not only is the venue following the latest CDC guidelines, but they have implemented a number of safety practices throughout Dreamland. A few of the safety measures include sanitizing recreational equipment before each new use, regularly sanitizing public surface areas, staff hygiene and health monitoring, mask use by staff while in indoor areas and patrons while indoors when not seated or eating and drinking, socially distanced layouts, encouraging patrons to maintain a safe distance of at least 6 feet from others not in their party while on site, and more.
Dreamland will be open rain or shine. Parent supervision will be required for all children under 15 while enjoying the activities. Saturday, February 6 will be the first of monthly kids days at Dreamland where children will enjoy activities like face painting, a petting zoo, a barrel train, and balloon animals. It’s a wonderful way for kids to play and enjoy Dreamland outdoors. Kids with a birthday during that month will enjoy all the activities for free.
Dreamland welcomes all well-behaved dogs in designated areas around the venue. They will be required to be kept on a leash at all times unless in specified dog park areas.
