Coronado Brewing To Celebrate 3rd Stingray IPA Day With Limited-Edition Variations

Coronado Brewing Company’s popular Stingray IPA Day is back for a third year – this time with two limited-edition, draft-only variations of the dangerously smooth Stingray IPA. On Friday, January 26, over 140 bars across the country will be tapping fresh Stingray, and some will offer specially brewed variations: Sorbet Stingray (Soursop fruit + Tangerine) and Double Dry-hopped Stingray. Coronado is excited for this to be the largest Stingray IPA Day yet, with accounts across the country holding promotions, talking beer and educating people about this award-winning IPA.

The brewers had fun getting creative with the variations for this event. Sorbet Stingray features a healthy addition of soursop fruit and tangerines for a flavor profile that is reminiscent of sorbet. The soursop provides soft notes of pineapple, banana and papaya, while the tangerine accentuates the citrus flavors imparted from the blend of hops. Double Dry-hopped Stingray is an intensified version that features double the dry-hop for double the aroma.

“The hallmark of Stingray IPA has been its dangerously smooth drinkability and intense tropical profile,” says Mark Thiesen, Head Brewer, Coronado Brewing Company. “This year we wanted to capitalize on that by creating two special variations that accentuate those tropical flavors. Sorbet Stingray and Double Dry-hopped Stingray offer fun twists on our classic IIPA, but the underlying beer is very much still Stingray.”

This year’s Stingray IPA Day will feature more than 140 participating accounts across the country. In addition, Coronado Brewing’s three locations will have a Stingray IPA Day promotion that includes Happy Hour deals on Stingray all day long, a special flight of the three variations and a Stingray IPA cask.  The company is also hosting a social media contest, encouraging fans to tag themselves on Instagram using the hashtag #StingrayIPA for a chance to win a Coronado Brewing prize pack.

[divider]Label Copy[/divider]Named after a Coronado shoreline where locals soak up sun and suds. This easy-drinking IPA will transport you to a tropical paradise the moment it hits your lips. Blending Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Southern Cross hops for a delicious, tropical aroma with just a hint of sun-kissed citrus. It’s deceptively smooth, with just enough bite.

[divider]About Coronado Brewing Company[/divider]

In 1996, when craft beer was still a foreign term and San Diego County was home to only a handful of breweries, the Chapman brothers, Ron and Rick, opened a brewpub in their hometown of Coronado. Today Coronado Brewing stays true to its San Diego roots, brewing a diverse portfolio specializing in abundantly hoppy West Coast-style ales, available in 19 US states and 12 countries. In addition to the long-established pub in Coronado, the company operates a tasting room inside its San Diego production facility, and a tasting room and restaurant in Imperial Beach, California. Coronado Brewing Company is the proud recipient of one of the brewing industry’s most prestigious awards—World Beer Cup Champion Brewery and Brewmaster for a Mid-Size Brewing Company, 2014.
