As the fall season approaches, Tröegs Independent Brewing is thrilled to announce the return of its beloved Oktoberfest Lager. This toasty, crisp, and festive beer is set to delight beer enthusiasts with its timeless German style and rich flavors.
A Traditional German Style with a Unique Twist
The brewing process for Oktoberfest Lager begins with a traditional German technique known as decoction.
“By boiling a portion of the mash, we create a bright, dry maltiness,” explains John Trogner, Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother. This technique imparts a distinctive character to the beer, making it stand out among seasonal offerings.
To enhance the flavor profile, Hallertau Tradition hops are added during the kettle stage, infusing the lager with subtle floral and herbal notes. At 6.1% ABV, Oktoberfest Lager boasts delightful notes of sweet caramel, fresh-baked bread, and flowering herbs, creating a well-balanced and enjoyable drinking experience.
Capturing the Spirit of Oktoberfest
To embody the celebratory spirit of the annual Oktoberfest celebration, Tröegs collaborated with German artist David Leutert. Inspired by the Bavarian flag and traditional beer halls, known as “Festzelte,” Leutert’s artwork brings a touch of authentic festivity to the beer’s packaging.
Part of the Long Live Lagers Celebration
Oktoberfest Lager joins the ranks of Tröegs’ popular year-round beers, Troegenator Double Bock and Sunshine Pilsner, as part of the brewery’s Long Live Lagers celebration. This initiative highlights the growing trend and appreciation for lager styles among beer drinkers.
