Hop-infused Soaps Take Inspiration From Local Craft Brewers

“Shop local” takes on a whole new experience this holiday season, transporting you from your favorite local bar straight to your shower, while staying totally G-Rated. Groove Soaps, makers of small-batch, hand-crafted, plant-based soaps, has teamed with three local craft breweries to produce a new limited series of innovative beer soaps. Head brewers from three local Orlando breweries lent their brewing expertise to inspire each slab’s unique scent profile. Each slab is “brewed” with the same ingredients featured in their signature beer.

“We want to support music. The breweries that we selected for this series have a commitment to supporting local musicians, just like us,” said Nas Rahbari, Co-Founder of Groove Soaps.

Groove Soaps was started by two Orlando-area musicians, Nas Rahbari and Jason “Woodsy” Woods, who turned a soapmaking side gig into their main hustle once COVID hit and the music gigs dried up. Taught to make soap by his grandmother, Woodsy is also a dad who wanted a handcrafted, plant-based soap for his daughter who has sensory issues. The two believe firmly in paying it forward to the local community by supporting other local industries that were hurt by the pandemic. Local bars were a natural fit.

“Our soaps have always included plant-based ingredients. Utilizing hops for their beneficial skin-healing properties plus the right mix of essential oils helped us capture the character of each brewery’s signature pint,” said Jason Woods, Co-Founder of Groove Soaps.

First, the collaboration with Castle Church Brewing resulted in the Macand-ale American IPA Beer Soap. If you love hoppy beers, this bar is for you. With an infusion of four different types of aromatic hops (Azacca, Citra, Amarillo, and Mosaic), you will notice scents of deep orange, citrus, passion fruits, and grassy, musky notes that will make you sing in the shower. The bar has a deep yellowish brown color as the base but the top is a frothy light creamy color, similar to the froth of the accompanying beer.

Next, the Persimmon Hollow collab is inspired by the brewery’s Gypsy Hiker IPA – thus the Gypsy Hiker Hazy IPA Beer Soap was born. Using the brewery’s signature patina copper green color, the beer soap has notes of grapefruit as well as hints of grain and barley. Interestingly, the soap has specks of caramelized malt that you see right in the bar to be used as an extra exfoliant.

Finally, the guys teamed with Tactical Brewing Co. and used their Reece E’s Phone Home Peanut Butter White Stout to produce a caramel-colored beer soap that has a whipped green and brown top, to look like peanut butter fudge. It has notes of chocolate and coffee and has a deep oatmeal and spiced rum scent appropriate for the holidays.

All soap slabs are currently available for pre-order as the soap cures for an estimated shipping date of the first week of November 2021.
