Community Beer Works of Buffalo, NY is proud to announce the re-launch of one of the city’s iconic historic brands, Iroquois Beer.
On February 1, 2018 at 3PM, the owners of Iroquois Brewing Company and Community Beer Works will host a press conference detailing their partnership and future plans for Iroquois Beer. The presentation will be hosted in the 100 Acres Dining Room at Buffalo’s beautifully restored Hotel Henry which is located at the corner of Rockwell Road & Cleveland Circle. At 5PM, hundreds of fans new and old will gather in the 100 Acres Dining Room to sample this classic Buffalo beer and share some memories. This is a limited introduction of the beer, with full production and regional availability planned for the spring of this year.
“It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to bring Iroquois Beer back to Buffalo and to celebrate the rich history of the company, beer, and all of our memories. This beer is more than a beverage, it’s part of our collective history,” says Willard Pottle, the great-grandson of former Iroquois President William Weigel.
The legacy of brewing in Buffalo speaks to the rich history of the area. It is the story of a booming industrial city turned rustbelt after major manufacturers left the area, leaving thousands of people without work in its wake. Currently, Buffalo is seeing a positive trend of people and industry returning to the area. The once abandoned urban landscape has become vibrant once again and Buffalo has begun to brew once more. The mission of Community Beer Works is not only to succeed as a brewery, but to celebrate the historic and current beer culture of Buffalo. Our city loves beer, and has the potential to be one of the premiere beer destinations in the country.
Ethan Cox, President of Community Beer Works says, “We are incredibly honored to be tapping into Buffalo beer history by bringing back a cherished brand in Iroquois Beer. We hope Buffalonians young and old are excited to support a truly local beer, made with care by our skilled brewers. Our take on the beer is that of a timeless classic, the American light lager, using a portion of New York State malt & hops, as the original likely did too. Eminently drinkable, “Iri” will be an all-season standard, your choice on tap or from your own fridge. We’re looking forward to letting all of WNY #haveanIri this May!”

About Iroquois Brewing Company – iribeer.com
Iroquois Brewing Company is one of the great entrepreneurial stories in Buffalo’s history. After prohibition, Iroquois became a market leader in Buffalo — in 1952 it produced 500,000 barrels of beer and employed 550 people in three plants. Today, Iroquois looks to capture the imaginations of a new generation of Buffalonians with a fresh twist on a classic beer and to revive memories of Buffalo’s brewing history.
