805 Beer’s roots in California surf culture and partnership with the World Surf League continue with the upcoming release of “Convergence”—an 805 Beer original film that will launch at the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California and on YouTube on August 3 at 7 p.m. PST. The trailer is live now.
“Convergence” illuminates the lives of three of California’s most notable professional surfers, following Greyson Fletcher (San Clemente), Conner Coffin (Santa Barbara) and Nate Tyler (Cayucos) as they take a road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway. Along the way, the 45-minute film encapsulates the captivating stories of three extraordinary individuals whose lives have been shaped by their love for surfing and the California way of life.
“This film offers a revealing look into the lives of three individuals who exemplify modern California surf culture,” said CMO Dustin Hinz. “We learn what drives them, and how they each came to the sport in their own unique way. These are the kinds of stories that 805 Beer was born to tell.”
Fletcher, Coffin and Tyler all rank as 805 “authenticos”—athletes, artists and artisans who excel in their respective disciplines and inspire others to chase their passions. Other recent original 805 films have featured professional MMA fighter Tabatha Ricci, freestyle motocross champion Vicki Golden, professional mountain bike rider Ryan Howard, and motocross freerider and X-Games Tyler Bereman.
The invite-only world premiere of “Convergence” will take place in Huntington Beach as part of the U.S. Open of Surfing, the world’s largest surfing competition. 805 is the official craft beer of the World Surf League in North America.
Leading up to the event, 805 Beer is highlighting its commitment to the U.S. Open of Surfing with significant investments in media, trade marketing and experiential efforts, including on-sand consumer activations, product sampling, athlete signings and a new “Cold Beer Surf Club” 805 x WSL apparel collaboration.
“We are all in on bringing our WSL partnership to market and creating as many drinking occasions as possible for our customers and trade partners,” said CSO Tony Amaral. “It’s about owning the idea of cold beer and good times in every 805 territory.”
