It’s the beer that launched Stone Brewing Co., taking it from a valiant vision of Co-founders Greg Koch and Steve Wagner to a brewery that would grow to be the ninth largest craft brewery in the country. On July 26, 1996, Stone Pale Ale was tapped for the very first time. Yes, 1996. A lot was different back then. Future craft beer fans were getting their first taste of something more—something Stone Pale Ale provided in spades. Many found it abundantly hoppy. Nowadays, not so much. Hey, Stone Brewing gets it. Extra pale ales and similarly hop-forward beers are what they and their fans have come to crave. So, they decided it was time to brew up a new classic and give to you, a thirsty nation of hop-heads, Stone Pale Ale 2.0.
Brewed with a lighter malt bill, the golden-hued beer is designed to show off Mandarina Bavaria hops. Hailing from Germany’s Bavaria region (not so far from Stone Brewing Berlin, which is under construction and coming along nicely, might we add), these botanical gems are fruity, spicy and perfectly suited for bringing Stone Brewing Co.’s storied pale ale into a bright future. That future starts Monday, April 27, when Stone Pale Ale 2.0 begins arriving in six-packs and on draft across the nation.
