Rough Draft Brewing Co’s Southern Triangle IPA is brewed with a combination of hoops from the Southern hemisphere, specifically Nelson Sauvin, Moteula and Galaxy. It’s one of their beers that is available year-round and can be found both on tap in their tasting room off Production Ave and in bottles.

Appearance
The Southern Triangle IPA pours an amber color with a nice white head that does fade quickly, leaving some lacing.

Aroma
It has notes of tropical and citrus. There are also hints of caramel sweetness from the malts used in this brew.

Taste
True to its aroma, there’s hints of caramel, orange and some pear in the Southern Triangle. It’s undoubtedly a fruity, hoppy IPA with a solid malt base. There’s notes of piny and resinous hops. It has moderate bitterness. Finishes with some fruitiness and lingering bitterness. It’s a very balanced IPA between the fruity sweetness and hoppy bitterness.

Mouthfeel
This particular IPA is medium bodied and is crisp from start to finish. There is a smooth amount of carbonation in this beer.

I am a adventure-seeker, dog lover, and beer enthusiast from Honolulu, Hawaii who is now enjoying life in San Diego. My interest in craft beer began in Belgium during my time studying abroad in London, England, and was only furthered after I returned to the States. Since moving down to San Diego, I have enjoyed many new experiences with my pup, including visiting pet-friendly tasting rooms and the city’s great outdoors. I enjoy her daily cup of coffee and quality time spent at the gym. As someone always looking forward to trying something new, being an Alien will open doors to new experiences.
