Craft beer lovers have a ready-made itinerary when visiting the Tacoma and Olympia area of Washington. The South Sound Craft Crawl is both a challenge and a promotion—anyone who collects 15 stamps from 21 participating locations serving locally made beers and ciders receives a specially imprinted 32-ounce mini growler.
South Sound Craft Crawl is co-sponsored by Travel Tacoma + Pierce County and Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitor and Convention Bureau. Visitors can plan a weekend stay and easily celebrate the craftsmanship available on tap in between stops at other attractions. Some Craft Crawl locations are within walking distance of each other, and seven are along the Link Light Rail in downtown Tacoma.
Printed “passports” for collecting stamps are available at Craft Crawl participating locations and at the Visitor Information Center at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. Passports also are available via download from southsoundcraftcrawl.com.
“Craft brewers in the South Puget Sound are right to be proud of their beers, and the South Sound Craft Crawl is a great way for them to show off their wares,” said Matt Wakefield, Travel Tacoma communications manager. “The program encourages visitors and locals to be adventurous. You’ve tried a couple of our local craft beers? That’s great! Now try a few more because you never know what you’re missing until you’ve tried them all.”
Visitors will appreciate the ease of participating in the Craft Crawl. The passport has full contact information for the 21 Craft Crawl locations—plus important details such as whether you can bring food or if there’s a food truck on site, if it’s kid friendly and if gluten-free options are available.
