Second Self Beer Company has some exciting news! Starting May 1st, 2016, they will begin canning their own beers and their expanded tasting room will open early summer. Since the Atlanta craft brewery is already at capacity, the expansion and canning their own beers will increase their production by ~150%. In light of this, the brewing company will also release additional beers to their existing canned beer line.
Second Self currently works with a mobile canning company to package two beers, which would be their Thai Wheat (spicy American wheat beer) and Red Hop Rye ( a hybrid red rye IPA). These are two of their flagship beers that are available year round in 12-oz cans at bars, restaurants and retail shops throughout Georgia. The added in-house equipment to handle the canning process will allow Second Self to offer more beer, as well as increased flexibility to package seasonal beers. The beer company already has plans to offer two additional beers starting this year: Maverick & Gose and Mole Porter.
MAVERICK & GOSE (4.4% ABV, 8 IBU)—Second Self’s take on a traditional Gose includes fresh CORIANDER and DRY HOPPED with Wakatu hops to balance out the slightly TART and SALTY nature of this fun beer. A beer that’s good anytime but best enjoyed outdoors on your favorite patio. Available in cans starting May 1st.

MOLE PORTER (6.5% ABV, 27 IBU)—a chocolate porter with extra spices reminiscent of the Oaxacan mole sauce. Second Self combines California, Pasella, and Chipotle CHILIES with CINNAMON, CLOVES, and COCOA NIBS to create a robust porter packed with flavor. Avail in cans starting Oct. 1st.
*Pairings include: pork or beef tacos, stews & chillis, gruyere cheese, and chocolate desserts.
Second Self’s new tasting room is on track for an early summer opening and will triple the size of their existing tasting room. The expanded tasting room will accommodate up to 200 guests and is designed by Square Feet Studio, an award-winning architecture, planning and design firm that is based in Atlanta. Design features of the new space include a 24 foot butcher block bar, a separate kitchen for catered events and regular chef pop-ups, reclaimed wood tables, and much more!
