82 IBU

6.8% ABV

As described by Rogue, “This is a red ale brewed with all the same passion and intensity that Mike Mignola and Dark Horse have brought to the creation of Hellboy for the past 21 years. You might enjoy it more than the next issue, but you’ll certainly enjoy your favorite character’s stories more with one of these in your right hand.”

Appearance: Upon pouring, it is very dark with a hint of red. The beer settles very cloudy. It poured with a minimal head that dissipated quickly.

Aroma: It smells sweet with hints of caramel and subtle aroma of hops.

Taste: A malt forward beer. This beer has a lingering hop profile which helps balance out the sweetness creating a more well-rounded beer.

Mouthfeel: A medium-bodied beer with low to minimal carbonation. Slight bitterness that lingers on your palette.

Overall: This beer paired well with an aged Gouda and a goat cheese. It would be a great beer to use for braising meats or even in a BBQ sauce due to its smoky nature. It is certainly a sipping beer because of it being a slightly heavier beer. We enjoyed drinking this beer very much and it left us all wanting more.

Note: We have had this beer aging in our spaceship cellar for months. The beer was originally released on February 22nd, 2015.
