When we received a bottle of Rogue’s Paradise Pucker we were super excited. Rogues is one of our favorite breweries and we have enjoyed pretty much everything they have to offer. Paradise Pucker was no exception… This sour ale is brewed with Passion Fruit, Oranges and Guava earning the acronym of POG.
Appearance: The Paradise Pucker pours a cloudy golden yellow resembling of a pint of orange juice. Theres very little head which quickly disappears.
Aroma: This is all about tropical fruits. Tart with a wheat-like smell but also a bit funky, everything you expect from a sour
Taste: This is super easy to drink. You almost forget that this is a beer. Subtle hints of passion fruit and guava but the orange is very prominent and it feels like drinking a pint of Orange juice.
Mouthfeel: Medium light body and Super crisp. Perfect carbonation and enough tartness to let you know you are drinking a sour beer.
Overall: If you are a beer drinker that does not enjoy Sour beers, you need to try this. It will change your perception and put you on a quest to find sour beers just like this. For the rest of us, Paradise Pucker is a well balance sour ale, not to sour and not too sweet. With a ABV of 6% and IBU of 5, this is a beer you can enjoy over and over again. If available that is.
