Just weeks ahead of the kick-off of the 2014 MLS regular season, Redhook Brewery announced today the release of ECS No Equal Blonde. The American blonde ale is the second beer brewed by Redhook Brewery in collaboration with the Emerald City Supporters, the largest supporters’ group for Seattle Sounders FC.
Emerald City Supporters spokesperson Greg Mockos said, “The Emerald City Supporters are proud to enter a third year in our partnership with Redhook Brewery by brewing No Equal Blonde. We know that soccer fans in Seattle and Cascadia are going to love the beer, especially while supporting Seattle Sounders FC.”
The Beer Aliens find this human behavior called ‘football’ very confusing. Apparently, it is played in ever corner of the planet Earth with a round ball that is kicked with the feet EXCEPT in the United States. There, ‘football’ is an egg shaped ball that is carried and thrown around. We implore you, Emerald City Supporters, please educate the rest of the Americans that they are playing ‘football’ all wrong*.
ECS No Equal Blonde is available on draught and in six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce bottles in Washington State, with limited distribution in bordering Oregon and Idaho.
Redhook Brewery’s original collaboration with the Emerald City Supporters, ECS No Equal Amber Lager, was launched in March 2012 and proved a huge hit with supporters of the club. Both crushable beers with lower ABV, ECS No Equal Blonde is distinguished by Cascade and Willamette hops and malted wheat for a clean, crisp and refreshing finish.
“To brew another great beer with the Emerald City Supporters, we knew it needed to quench the thirst of Sounders fans for the full 90,” said Redhook brewer Nick Crandall. “This time, we aimed for an American blonde ale and used traditional Northwest hop varieties, pale and crystal malts, and malted wheat for a balanced beer with rich malt character and a bright, clean finish.”
The suggested retail price for a six pack of ECS No Equal Blonde is $6.99, in line with other Redhook Brewery beers like ESB and Long Hammer IPA. ECS No Equal Blonde has an ABV (Alcohol By Volume) of 5.2% with 25 IBU (International Bittering Units).
The six- and 12-pack bottles will be available until August, while ECS No Equal Blonde will be available on draught for the entire Sounders season.
* We see the problem… Americans call football ‘soccer’ and they play a strange version of ‘rugby’ (also played all over this planet) that they call ‘football.’ The Beer Aliens are sure that after a few of these ECS No Equal Blondes. no one will really care 😉
The MLS (Major League Soccer) regular season kicks off March 8th with Seattle vs. reigning MLS champions Sporting Kansas City and the World Cup begins June 12.
About Redhook Brewery
Redhook Brewery was born out of the energy and spirit of the early 80’s in the heart of Seattle. While the term didn’t exist at the time, Redhook Brewery became one of America’s first “craft” breweries. From a modest start in a former transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, to the current breweries in Woodinville, WA and Portsmouth, NH, Redhook has become one of America’s most recognized craft breweries.
While Redhook Brewery has “grown up” over the past 30 years, one thing has never changed – Redhook Brewery is still brewing great beers like ESB, Long Hammer IPA, and Audible Ale. Most importantly, Redhook Brewery has fun doing it. Redhook Brewery beers are available both on draught and in bottles around the country. For more information, visit www.redhook.com.
