Pizza Port Brewing Company - Swami's IPA
4.6Overall Score
Reader Rating: (1 Vote)

One of San Diego’s original craft breweries, Pizza Port has been making pie since 1987 and brewing since 1992, with Swami’s as one of their flagship brews. Some dub it the original San Diego IPA but that is up for you to decide. To get your hands on this brew stop by one of their multiple San Diego county locations or pick up a six pack from several retail locations or their bottle shop. We think it is one of the best IPA’s around and always a solid choice when grabbing a slice or hitting the beach!

Appearance: Swami’s pours very nicely with a small firm creamy head that settles very nicely. The beer itself is a medium golden color.

Aroma: Swami’s gives off a strong pleasant fruity aroma, with notes of pine as well as tropical fruit with accents of citrus.

Taste: Swami’s is not an IPA for the faint of heart. I like to refer to this brew as an IPA lover’s beer. The beer itself comes with a very strong dry hop taste. That being said it also comes with hints of fruit and citrus with a medium carbonated finish.

Mouthfeel:  Great medium body IPA that also has a lasting floral aftertaste. One of my personal favorite brews and a great anytime beer. Cheers!

I am a sports fanatic, music lover, outdoor enthusiast and beer advocate born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. While I am not out exploring San Diego’s craft beer scene, I can be found hanging out at the beach with friends or attending southern California’s many live music events. My passion for craft beer was inherited from my father while home brewing together in their garage. I continued to share his passion for craft beer with friends while attending college in Los Angeles, where I was able to explore the craft beer scene outside of San Diego. In the future, I hope to be involved in Marketing/ Event Planning for the craft beer industry so I can spread my love and passion for beer with the larger San Diego community. I am an avid sports fan and can be seen sharing a pint with other aliens at local Padre and Charger games!
