Novo Brazil Brewing Company Samba Haze Beer review

Tonight I sampled Samba Haze from Novo Brazil Brewing Company (901 Lane Avenue Chula Vista). In addition to this new beer offered in can form, Novo Brazil is also known for its Mulata (also canned) an American Amber Ale and its Corvo Negro that placed Bronze in the 2016 World Beer Cup. Novo Brazil also offers a wide variety of IPA’s both of the fruited variety and traditional as well.

Right off the pour, the beer is all kinds of hazy and reminiscent of a East Coast IPA, juicy and bright with hints of citrus and grapefruit. The beer itself is 5.4% ABV and has 52 IBU’s. From the beginning of the pour to the last sip this little beer has an amazing head retention. As I wander through this hazy beer, the grapefruit and citrus flavors are more pronounced as the beer warms up. The glass lacing and legs on Samba Haze are also equally apparent and very noticeable as I savor the last sip.

In conclusion, although Novo Brazil Brewing Company hasn’t been on the San Diego Beer map scene very long, they have proved their worth and can stand with “big boys” in San Diego. I myself will be looking to see what they have to offer in the upcoming months.
