Style Pilsner

Local to the town of Fort Bragg on California’s Mendocino Coast, North Coast Brewing Co. opened in 1988 as a local brewpub. Since its opening, brewmaster Mark Ruedrich worked with the brewery to develop various award-winning beers. Although the Scrimshaw Pilsner is one of North Coast Brewing Co.’s year-round beers, it would be a great beer to drink on a nice summer day. It is a refreshing, crisp brew that is subtly hoppy and has a dry finish. This particular pilsner is brewed using Munich malt and Halletauer and Tettnang hops, giving it a fresh taste.

Appearance: The Scrimshaw Pilsner has a pale straw color, with very little white head when poured.

Aroma: An aromatic beer with a light hop-nose along with notes of grain, malt, and yeast.

Taste: A lighter, refreshing taste with subtle hoppy and pale malt flavors. It is slightly sweet and has a clean and crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Perfect level of carbonation and is light bodied. Very balanced amount of hops and bitterness. It is fresh and easy to drink and enjoy.
