Ninkasi began brewing in 2006 out of Eugene Oregon with a simple goal in mind:

“In a time when the industry landscape was home to male-centric brands, Nikos and Jamie strived for a company that represented what beer meant to them—a source of community and the root of human existence” – Ninkasi Brewing

Ten years later Ninkasi is still making great brews and serving as a catalyst for community growth. Since their founding, Ninkasi has started water and energy conservation efforts as well as created partnerships with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Appearance: Dawn of the Red pours a deep amber almost orange color with a solid white head that sits and settles slowly while leaving traces of lacing on the edge of the glass.

Aroma: Citrus, and orange flavors with a hint of malt and caramel

Taste: Some malt bitterness at first that leads into mixtures of orange, pine, citrus fruit, and mango with a strong hoppy bitterness that extends into a dry aftertaste. More heavy on the hops side for a red ale pale ale.

Mouthfeel: Moderately carbonated with a burst of tropical fruit that makes for a crisp, clean, refreshing brew.

Overall: Dawn of the Red has the bitterness and drinkability of a traditional IPA with the maltiness and color of a red. IPA lovers will enjoy the hop presence combined with the citrus flavors of mango and pineapple, plus a hint of caramel and malt to make this beer unique. Great refreshing beer for the warmer months! Great Artwork! Give it a try with these suggested pairings from Ninkasi: Chicken, Seafood, Burgers, Spicy Cuisine like Thai or Mexican, Fish Tacos, and Savory French Toast.

PR / Marketing Intern

I am a sports fanatic, music lover, outdoor enthusiast and beer advocate born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. While I am not out exploring San Diego’s craft beer scene, I can be found hanging out at the beach with friends or attending southern California’s many live music events. My passion for craft beer was inherited from my father while home brewing together in their garage. I continued to share his passion for craft beer with friends while attending college in Los Angeles, where I was able to explore the craft beer scene outside of San Diego. In the future, I hope to be involved in Marketing/ Event Planning for the craft beer industry so I can spread my love and passion for beer with the larger San Diego community. I am an avid sports fan and can be seen sharing a pint with other aliens at local Padre and Charger games!
