Celeste Beatty, founder of Harlem Brewing Co. of Harlem, NY recently landed a deal to sell her beer at 39 Walmart stores in New York as part of Walmart’s January 2013 U.S. Manufacturing Commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in U.S. products over 10 years that support American jobs. Harlem Brewing Co. is a female, minority-owned business that produces not only beer but also grows their own hops right in the state of New York.

Our customers tell us that where products are made is most important second only to price. With changes in energy costs and labor costs overseas, it is increasingly cost effective and efficient to manufacture closest to the point of consumption, helping Walmart respond to trends and customer demand. And it is just good business.
