Sumatra Mountain Brown
The latest addition to our lineup of coffee beers
There’s no denying we love the rich flavor of coffee. This time we’ve used Sumatra coffee to create an imperial brown ale that’s nothing short of decadent. Find this latest addition to our specialty lineup locally using our beer finder or mobile app.
This One’s for You, Michigan
Palm Reader pale ale, with proceeds to support efforts to restore the Grand River
Available for a limited time, Palm Reader is a tribute to our beautiful home state. It’s made with Michigan-grown Crystal and Zuper-Saazer hops. Derived from Saaz, a traditional noble hop hailing from the Czech Republic, these Zuper-Saazer hops are grown locally at Hop Head Farms.
Proceeds from the sale of this beer are going to support Grand Rapids Whitewater, an organization focused on restoring and putting the rapids back in the Grand River.
Blood, Sweat and Barrel-Aged Beer
A summary of our history and a look at what’s to come
“One could argue that Founders was literally founded at the worst possible moment, and their early offerings didn’t exactly set the local beer community on fire, either.”
It wasn’t always pretty, but here we are. Jim Vorel of Paste Magazine recently joined us during the weekend of our 15th Annual Black Party, a celebration of our darkest beers. Jim toured our facility, got to know the team and sampled a few barrel-aged beers we’re experimenting with. Here’s his take on it all (including a sneak peek at the barrel-aged beers to come).
Expanding our current location in downtown Grand Rapids
The walls of our latest expansion are going up – and that means the footprint at our 235 Grandville location will now fill an entire city block. Given our humble beginnings, this continued growth still blows our mind.
At the same time, we’re hard at work transforming a massive space just a mile south of our current location. The new building, shown below, will be used for warehousing and distribution, but it will also be the home of our second brewery, which will focus exclusively on the barrel-aged, experimental, high-gravity and specialty beers that we’ve become known for. That means many of our beloved limited, specialty and Backstage Series beers will be brewed here – but it’s also a space for us to experiment with new, innovative styles of beer. Hell yeah!
New Recipes to Try at Home
The best part? You can drink the leftover beer
There’s no denying it, we’re as Midwestern as they come – and fewer things scream “The Midwest” than a bowl of cheesy beer soup. Our go-to All Day IPA Beer Cheese Soup recipe.
Like we said, best wings ever. Check out that recipe here.
