The Beer Aliens got crafty this week with The Women’s Craft Beer Collective! Hosted at Culture Brewing Compansampley in Solana Beach. The macramé event is one of the most popular events that the WCBC has to offer, they take place at various breweries all over San Diego and switch up the designs with each event. Kristine Baker (Founder of the WCBC) transformed the back end of the brewery with colorful Mexican blankets laid out atop wood pallets and kegs lining the sides of the event. A little “pop up” shop was set up featuring adorable beer related home decor, clothing and jewelry. (check out the shop here!)

Upon arrival, the Aliens promptly grabbed a beer and headed back to mingle with all our human beer friends. All the supplies needed were organized neatly at the front of the event space, with long wooden sticks of various shades and some even being spray painted gold! Once we had our supplies we staked out our spot among the humans and sipped our brews while we waited for instructions to begin.

Kristine Baker does a great job of walking everyone through the various steps involved in creating the macramé wall hanger. Explaining the steps toweavingg the group as a whole and then checking in and helping with each individual student. Once the wall hanger reached the preferred length, participants were able dip dye the ends! With various colors available allowing our creative juices to flow and making the wall hanger more individualized.

La Cerveza: an extremely drinkable Mexican Lager brewed with Hallertau hops. Clocking in at 4.6% ABV, this brew is the perfect way to beat the heat in this beautiful San Diego weather.

Nelson IPA: A classic West Coast style IPA brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops.

culturebeersBlack IPA: This beer is one of the flagship brews that Culture Brewing put out over 3 years ago. It features roasty malts and a nice blend of Amarillo and Simcoe hops.

About The Women’s Craft Beer Collective

“The Women’s Craft Beer Collectives desire is for their events to be beer focused and educational. But every once in awhile they do something a little crazy and different. Macramé and Beer craft class has been the most requested event to date, with no plans to stop anytime soon!  Sometimes we all just need a calming, therapeutic activity to do while we drink a beer!  Plus everyone brings home a decorative piece that they are proud of!” – Kristine Baker Founder.
