Based out of San Clemente CA, Left Coast Brewing has been putting out great craft beer since 2004 and has since won over 20 awards and increased their production to over 11,000 barrels. Named after the iconic surf spot, the Trestles IPA boast a variety of Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe and Centennial hops. It was also named the Gold Medal Winner of the 2015 San Diego International Beer Competition!
Appearance: The Trestles pours a deep amber color with a big white head that settles nicely and leaves foamy lacing.
Aroma: Very hoppy aroma due to the many varieties of hops used to create it. Hint of caramel.
Taste: Almost a Brown Ale taste, which is strange due to its large amount of hops. Sweet at first, then transitions to bitter with a hint of brown sugar at the end. Interesting mixture of flavors that blend well together to make an overall distinct IPA.
Mouthfeel: Moderate amount of carbonation, sweet then bitter then almost sweet again.
Overall: This is a fantastic IPA that has a brown ale sort of twist to it. Great variety of hops, for those IPA lovers out there, and a hint of brown sugar sweetness that make it appealing to many different types of beer drinkers. An IPA that is sweet, malty and bitter all at the same time. We couldn’t get enough of this brew and know you won’t be able to as well!
