San Diego’s craft beer pioneer, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, has relaunched its popular art, music, and beer series (formerly B.A.M) as Arts & Amps. The first two of the five installments (the event series launched in May and will run through August) were a big hit with craft beer fans, music lovers and art aficionados alike.
The featured beer of the evening will be“Who’s Your Pappy” — Pappy Van Winkle Barrel-Aged American Strong Ale. Other notable pours will be their Under the Stairs sour series, featuring strawberry, peach, raspberry and cherry variations, as well as Nitro Morning Bird, a British Imperial Stout brewed with cold pressed and whole bean coffee. Also special to the event is the Lemongrass Tower 10 IPA, a new take on their favorite West Coast-style IPA brewed with fresh lemongrass.
For this third installment, there will be two talented local musical guests performing in the outdoor area of the biergarten-style tasting room. The popular San Diego-based surf rock duo, The Mattson 2 will perform jazz music inspired by the sea and surf, channeling hypnotic rhythms and exotic, experimental improvisation. DJ OMZ will also be spinning before and after The Mattson 2’s set.
In addition to music and beer, the event will also feature a charitable art collaboration with the local nonprofit ReSurf Project. Live at the event, there will be interactive board painting on donated surfboards, which will be gifted to the children of the ReSurf community in Rosarito, Mexico post event. Surfboards can be donated at local surf shop Bird’s Surf Shed from July 16th – 24th or brought to the event day of.
Arts & Amps is a part of Karl Strauss’ overall initiative to create community through freshly brewed beer and support local arts and culture. To make it inclusive to the entire community, these events are FREE and open to anyone 21+.
