Beer historian with autism Lance Rice and Beer Autism Hope (a registered 501(c)(3) charity) launch the inaugural Hop Courage Craft Beer Day at the legendary Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday April 25th, the final weekend of Autism Awareness Month. Hop Courage Craft Beer Day is bringing the biggest names in American brewing to Los Angeles for an unprecedented beer festival to give back to autism.
With more than 200 beers on tap, including selections from Stone, Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, Dogfish Head, Rogue Ales and craft brewing powerhouse from across the country, Hop Courage Craft Beer Day gives LA craft beer fans a chance to taste coveted brews – but the festival goes beyond tasting! Attendees will also get the chance to meet brewing legends, celebrities and take part in craft beer masters’ symposiums hosted by All About Beer Magazine’s John Holl and Beer Historian Lance Rice.
How Beer Autism Hope Began – In 2013, Lance Rice left home on his own for the first time at 55-years-old to pursue his dream to author a book on the history of American brewing. As he traveled, word spread through the brewing industry about a beer historian with autism who was conquering half a century of fear and phobias and defying the odds one brewery at a time. Lance was embraced by the beer world and his brewery tour, which is the subject of a feature-length documentary, became a 35,000 mile journey that sparked a movement for hope within the brewing industry – a movement now known as Beer Autism Hope. Rice is now a household name among brewers and is considered a hero in the autism community.
Hops & Hopes Craft Beer Day concludes Rice’s three year odyssey. Special guest appearances and brewmaster panels will be live streamed for worldwide viewing and the beer festival for hope founded in Rice’s honor will be featured in Lance’s Brewery Tour; a documentary chronicling Rice’s life and miraculous journey from unknown autistic to worldwide inspiration, author and autism advocate.
“Three years ago, Lance overcame incredible odds to leave home on his own for the first time at fifty-five-years-old. On Hops & Hopes Craft Beer Day, his courage will bring him center stage at a festival benefiting autism in his honor – surrounded by thousands at one of the nation’s most revered stadiums – it’s unbelievable,” stated Aaron Rice, Director of the Beer Autism Hope Cause.
