Helms Brewing Company - Wicked as Sin IPA Review
4.5Overall Score
Reader Rating: (1 Vote)

Helms Brewing Company was original founded by four ship builders right here in San Diego, CA back in 2012. With a great lineup of beers, and several awards already under their belt, Helms has a bright future ahead! Stop by their Kearney Mesa or Ocean Beach tasting room and grab a pint!

Appearance: Great golden brown haze color with a large white head. Lots of lacing with this one!

Aroma: Rye is very prevalent. Great mixture of citrus that blend well with rye backbone.

Taste: Once again the rye flavor is very prevalent. Starts out with rye and then immediately transitions to a more citrus flavor.  Tropical fruit flavors make for a very light and flavorful IPA.

Mouthfeel: Medium to moderate level of carbonation. Suits the light hoppy flavor well. Light and crisp, nothing too overpowering.

Overall: A great take on the traditional IPA. Rye and citrus mix well together to create a light and crisp IPA that will be great for summertime. A nice twist on a traditional California IPA! Great for the beach or the next BBQ!

PR / Marketing Intern

I am a sports fanatic, music lover, outdoor enthusiast and beer advocate born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. While I am not out exploring San Diego’s craft beer scene, I can be found hanging out at the beach with friends or attending southern California’s many live music events. My passion for craft beer was inherited from my father while home brewing together in their garage. I continued to share his passion for craft beer with friends while attending college in Los Angeles, where I was able to explore the craft beer scene outside of San Diego. In the future, I hope to be involved in Marketing/ Event Planning for the craft beer industry so I can spread my love and passion for beer with the larger San Diego community. I am an avid sports fan and can be seen sharing a pint with other aliens at local Padre and Charger games!
